The last thing for today, I promise...

When I watch live tv, or a show while it's being recorded, the video freezes after a couple of minutes, but the audio keeps playing. I can go back to the menu and start playing again for a couple of minutes, but then the same thing happens. Any idea where to start looking? I noticed that the PVRX2.exe-native.log is full of these lines: "Sequence header indicates: 720x576 ar: 0". And by full, I mean that it repeats like 20 or more times per second.

Reproduce the problem, then post the logs and I'll take a look.

I'm not really sure. I cant see any obvious sign of problems in there. Maybe try a different combination of decoders or video renderer.

btw Sub, I also noticed an instane number of "Sequence header indicates: 720x576 ar: 0" messages in log when playing video (debug mode)
2008-03-31 19:18:42.031 VERBOSE Sequence header indicates: 704x576 ar: 3
2008-03-31 19:18:42.062 VERBOSE Sequence header indicates: 704x576 ar: 3

2008-03-31 19:18:42.250 VERBOSE Sequence header indicates: 704x576 ar: 3
2008-03-31 19:18:42.281 VERBOSE Sequence header indicates: 704x576 ar: 3
2008-03-31 19:18:42.312 VERBOSE Sequence header indicates: 704x576 ar: 3
2008-03-31 19:18:42.343 VERBOSE Sequence header indicates: 704x576 ar: 3
2008-03-31 19:18:42.375 VERBOSE Sequence header indicates: 704x576 ar: 3

maybe debug mode should only be used when experiencing problems rather than for everyday use?

You can safely ignore those messages. I'll make sure I remove that message for the next release. (hadnt intended to leave it there)

I tried a couple of combinations, but it's always the same. Is there some sort of foolproof combination that I could try as a last resort? Maybe I'll have another videocard tomorrow to try, maybe that helps. The one I have now is a geforce4 mx440 which is rather ancient. The one I'll have tomorrow is a geforce 6200...

i would say that if it plays ok for a few mins but then stops, it may be the decoder but it may also be the graphics chip overheating.

also try using the overlay renderer.

Maybe a dumb question: what's the difference between the PVRX2 video renderer and the GBPVR renderer?

GBPVR.exe is the old GB-PVR user interface. PVRX2.exe is the current GB-PVR user interface. There is separate renderer options provided for each.
