I am setting up my Popcornhour. I am getting close and it looks like I am only one step from success.

I can get the Popcornhour to see and play video files on my PC through a share I defined which points to them. I also get the telnet.html file from PCH and on PCH I can get a choice of choosing telnet or GB-PVR.

When I try to telnet to PCH from the PC, I get a message "Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed." I've turned off my firewall (both the one I normally use--Comodo and the Windows Firewall).

Any suggestions on what I am missing?

What happened when you started telnet on the PCH?

I'd say one of two things is wrong, either:

1) the telnet.html file hasnt had the URL edited correctly to match the name that the PCH has for the share
2) or, the telnet.cgi needs to be edit to have the correct path to the share

I replaced the "EditMe" in the telnet.html file with the name that was in the URL box of the Network Share screen on the PCH. That means that "[SMB]%20" was just before it and ":mvpmc/" was right after it.

What is the telnet.cgi file. Do you mean the script.cgi file or am I missing a file?

My media sources screen on the PCH says "hushpc:mvpmc" amd my telnet.html has:

<a href="http://localhost.drives:8883/[SMB]%20bunkey:mvpmc/script.cgi">Telnetd</a>

Yes, I meant script.cgi.

Thanks. That did it. I pulled the name for the telnet.html file from the screen in the PCH setup rather than what was displayed for the Media Sources in the top level menu.

I will send a message to MValleland with some recommended edits to the Survival Guide to help others avoid the problems I ran into.

Thanks again.

I haven't seen anything yet, but the survival guide does say in bold to get the name from the Media Source menu. I also don't mind public critiques in fact I prefer them to PMs.

Sorry. I had a printout from a month ago that I was using. If I had printed it out more recently, it would have had that clarification.
