I am going to try out alternate front ends, but am currently a VMC user. I have shows recorded in VMC, etc etc etc.

I have the Arcsoft TMT installed, which plugs directly into VMC, which is nice. BR and HD-DVD load automatically from within VMC, so it is very wife friendly. I use the MS remote to control all.

So, I am seeking a way to setup gbpvr, make it work with my currently recorded shows, my ripped dvds (not ISO, but the two folder style), my AverMedia MCE250 analog tuner, my Arcsoft TMT HDM player, and my HD Home Run digital tuner. Oh, and a channel guide as well.

Any possibility of an easy to follow walkthrough guide of what I need to install, what plug ins are needed, etc?

Wow, is it really that hard to install this product, or something else entirely?

Lots of views, no replies...

The lack of replies is probably because the question was quite vague, making it hard to answer. It covers a lot of ground, and is potentially a large bit of typing for anyone that wanted to do it justice with a good answer. You probably best to try setting it up yourself, and ask specific questions if you encounter any problems.

That said, you can find quite a bit of info about setting up GB-PVR on the wiki: http://www.gbpvr.com/pmwiki/

I dont know anything about Arcsoft TMT, so couldnt tell you if it can be easily integrated or not.

If you have Daemon Tools, the GB-PVR can playback back your ripped DVDs.

There was a guide for setting up the HDHomeRun with GB-PVR on the HDHomeRun forums: http://www.silicondust.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2485

Most USA users use the Schedules Direct service for their listings. If you've got a VMC machine though, there is a utility on the wiki for extracting listings from MCE. I've never used it myself, so cant tell you much about it, but see http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manual/EPG#toc17

TMT does not actually "integrate" with VMC. Instead it launches a version of TMT that is skinned to look like VMC and it runs on top of VMC. The executable is uMceDVDPlayer.exe and is located in the TMT folder. TMT can be launched from GBPVR by setting a custom task. Your remote should still work on TMT as it did before. Once you get GBPVR set up, just go to the "Plugins" tab of the config to add a custom task.

For the HDHomeRun, follow the guide sub suggested. I wrote that guide as well as the MCE guide extractor that sub mentioned but as he said, Schedules Direct is the recommended EPG service to use. I missed the thread until now but I'll keep an eye out for your questions.

Your DVD folders should work just fine with GBPVR. You will just need to add them to your "Videos" location. Once you have GBPVR installed it will be easier to help you through specific issues.

Glad to see you trying out GBPVR. (I'm vladd by the way. Wink)

Always smart to try out several different front ends, then use the one which works the best AND keeps the wife happy.

She loved MCE2005, is "meh" about VMC.

I will give it a go, see what happens. Have to take a break from the computer building for a bit to raise the happiness factor back up. Wink

EDIT: The wiki mentions only XP or Win2k...this does not run on Vista?

It runs on Vista. I'll get Zehd to update the wiki.
