Can someone explain to me the Board Number settings for the tuners? I have 3 turners and is what I want to know does that have to do with the physical order of the cards attached to my computer? Or is it just a way for GV-PBR to track the number of turners?

Thanks

The board number is the instance number of the driver. ie, if there is two PVR150s in a machine, then there will be two instances of the driver. I'm not sure if you can predict the instance number that will be associated with a device. Some people have said the order relates to the PCI slot the device is in, but I'm not sure if that has ever been confirmed. It probably varies from how the device manufacturers have made their drivers.

For the most part these numbers arent important. It only matters what device number you use if you receive different channels from multiple devices.

For example, if you have two PVR150s receiving analog cable through the tuner, then it doesnt really matter which one you call #1 or #2. If you had two PVR150s, one connected to a set top box via svideo, the other receiving analog cable through the tuner, then it would matter which device numbers you'd set. If you'd got the numbers backwards it would have tried the svideo on the wrong card and you'd just get black.

Ok last part of this. With testing I have noticed that when you select LiveTV GV-PBR grabs the last card listed, but when you do recording it starts at the first card listed correct?

Thanks,

Well that's interesting because I've ordered a HVR-2200 to add (currently have one HVR-4000). The HVR-2200 has a DVB-T tuner and an analogue tuner with hardware MPEG-2 (and I _think_ they can be used simultaneously).

I was planning on setting up the analogue tuner as the last tuner (I thought it might get last preference and only used when the digital tuners are busy u c).

But this would mean, when I watch live, I'm going to get the analogue tuner all the time. Is there a way of configuring it around this?

The only control you have is by changing the order of your capture sources in the config app with these rules in mind.

ok thanks sub, but if I change the order then I'll get the analogue source used first when recording.

I'm now thinking along the lines of a utility that say duplicates my tvguide.xml file and then say replacing all the ...
<channel id="tv3">
<display-name>TV3</display-name>
with
<channel id="tv3ana">
<display-name>TV3 Ana</display-name>

and then all the programmes where it says.....
channel="tv1"

with
channel="tv1ana"

Would this should give me a whole new series of channels I guess for just the analogue tuner?
