Hey sub and all. I'm new to the GBPVR forum, but I've been trying to get GBPVR to run on my HTPC for the last two months with no luck and this thread is my problem! I had the old .9 version and just upgraded with the new .13 and it still crashes when I try to scan for channels. So, I've had it crashing on me with both versions. I have a Haupaugge HVR 1600. I thought I had it narrowed down to my mobo as my card works in any other system, but the same thing happened with a new mobo. I have Win XP SP3. I would love to know a resolution to this issue.

Oh, I should add as well that I've installed Vista on another hard drive and had the same results and issues, so I don't think it is a driver issue. Again, the card and driver works just fine in other win xp and vista systems

Thanks

Was yours crashing prior to 1.2.13? If so, it sounds like some unrelated problem, but post the logs and I'll take a look.

Are you using the QAM side of your HVR1600?

No, I'm using the ATSC side. I would love to post the logs, but I'm currently trying the new release on the vista drive. Also, I get the same violation access error when I do a burn test and both sticks of my memory are in. Oddly enough, if I only have one stick of memory in, I can't get the burn test to replicate the error. On the same token, when I scan for channels with only one stick of memory, the crash causes my computer to reboot. When I have two sticks of memory in, the scan just kills the program and gives me the Access violation error. I really don't think it is a memory issue because all my memetest scans come put with no errors. I've also had two completely different sticks of ram in with the same result. This is why I thought it was the mobo, but I just had a new mobo sent to me!

Any thoughts? I'll see about posting the logs when I get my computer back online.

Oh and yes, my scan was crashing with version 1.2.9

Thanks so much.

I moved your posts to a separate thread because I'm pretty sure its unrelated to that other thread.

Post the logs when you're able and I'll take a look.

Thanks

See the sticky 'posting support questions' thread for where to find the logs, and how to attach them. The logs I'm specifically interested in are the config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log.

Here are my log files. I couldn't find the thread you were talking about, but it wasn't really hard to figure out where the log files were. Hopefully theses are the logs you want. By the by, thanks so much.

Does it always seem to crash while scanning T:29,0,0?

Sometimes before and sometimes after. That usually about the time that it picks up channels. More recently, it seems to be that point. This last time I ran it, it stopped in the 40s

It looks like it got some garabge and failed trying to process it, which makes me think maybe the signal is too marginal for the tuner. Usually it'd handle it more gracefully, but its not for some reason.

I'd try edit the ".\bda\atsc\all.ini" file to temporarily changed the T:29,0,0 line to T:0,0,0 or similar to force it to not tune that frequency to see if it fares any better.
