Help....

I recently had both my WinTV PVR (USB2) and Media MVP both get fried by an electrical surge (lightning). The current equivalent replacement device that Hauppauge offers is their WinTV HVR 1950. The device installed fine but I then noted that it was not listed in the GBPVR configuration windows (Capture Card Type). I can't upgrade to the newer GBPVR version as my machine is just not able to handle - is there some driver or setting that I can use to accept the feed from this device? As you can see from the title of this post, the GBPVR version I'm running is v1.0.16 - and it has run perfectly for quite some time. I was kind of hoping it would continue...

Any help is appreciated....

If you're lucky it might work with 1.0.16. Run the filtercheck.exe from the gbpvr directory, then zip and attach the filtercheck.log and I'll take a look.

FILTER_ENCODER=Hauppauge HVR USB2 MPEG Encoder
PIN_CROSSBAR_VIDEO_TUNER_IN=Video Tuner In
PIN_CROSSBAR_AUDIO_TUNER_IN=Audio Tuner In
PIN_CROSSBAR_VIDEO_DECODER_OUT=Video Decoder Out
PIN_CROSSBAR_AUDIO_DECODER_OUT=Audio Decoder Out
PIN_TVTUNER_ANALOG_VIDEO_OUT=Analog Video
PIN_TVTUNER_ANALOG_AUDIO_OUT=Analog Audio
PIN_TVAUDIO_TV_AUDIO_IN=TVAudio In
PIN_TVAUDIO_TV_AUDIO_OUT=TVAudio Out
PIN_CAPTURE_ANALOG_VIDEO_IN=Analog Video In

Thanks so much, it worked like a charm - we're back up and running. Also, we'll be sending along some $'s which are long overdue but very well deserved.

Thanks again...

I think the current 1.2.13 will already have these in the bda.ini, but check just in case:

[Hauppauge HVR-1950 (ATSC)]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
FILTER_TUNER=Hauppauge HVR USB2 BDA Tuner/Demod
FILTER_CAPTURE=Hauppauge HVR USB2 TS Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

[Hauppauge HVR-1950 (QAM)]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
TUNING_SPECIAL=2
FILTER_TUNER=Hauppauge HVR USB2 BDA Tuner/Demod
FILTER_CAPTURE=Hauppauge HVR USB2 TS Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

thanks for the quick reply. i did some research myself to find graphedit and i input the hauppauge HVR-1950 entry along with the appropriate filter names into the bda.ini file. i believe my entry is the same as the one you posted but i'll double check when i get home (i'm posting from work!! don't tell)

so, after adding this entry (i only added the ASTC entry not the QAM), i was able to select "hauppauge HVR-1950" from the digital tuners drop down box. but when i scan for channels, i get the BSOD and my computer reboots itself. i know there is supposed to be a patch for this here, but this patch file is already in my gbpvr directory. do i need to "run" this patch or put it somewhere special?
( . ) no jokes please ( . )

cheers

This will definitely be some driver bug. No GB-PVR setting is going to help with this sort of problem.

dang.
can i ~manually set the channels without "scanning"? the scan did find a couple digital channels before BSOD'ing.
