Hi, I have a few PVRX2 issues.
1) I manually recorded a program from C4 (I think at the time either I had no epg or it was expired) and the recording is listed something like "C4_20080828210000". I'd like to rename it to the normal name, but I cannot see how. Also if I can manually rename, will gbpvr automatically group it with the other recordings of the show that I have (i.e the ones that have subsequently been recorded via the tvguide/epg)?

2) I've only had gbpvr for a short while and I made some initial recordings I want to keep. After that early stage I uninstalled/reinstalled. I still have the *.ts files (of those early recordings) but the shows don't appear in gbpvr. Can I somehow import those into gbpvr so I can see them in my recordings (and play them again of course)?

3) I have a show programmed to record for the season. I went into it to watch the latest recording and it was marked as 'Failed' rather than ready. In this case I know why it failed (I'd stopped the recording service to get Sub some logs and I forgot to restart it). But there seems no way to get the info (why it failed) thru the app; i.e if I was to see a failed recording again and I didn't know why it failed, how would I find out the reason (so I can hopefully avoid it in the future)?
It could be nice if you could dbl-click the recording and there was a button 'reason for recording failure' (maybe just spit out the relevant logging, at the very least).

4) Under recordings if I go into "what's new", recordings are listed from most recent to older, descending - very handy. But (as above) if I have a show set to record daily for the season, when I select 'Ready'(?) and see my show there and there are - say - 20 recordings, they are listed from oldest first and I have to scroll right to the bottom to see the most recent. Is there a way to reverse the order? (It'd also be more consistent with the "what's new" list...)

5) Is 'picture in picture' supported? (I have a dual-tuner card.)

Thanks! Phil

1) where possible, I prefer to stick with recordings from the EPG rather than manual recordings, since these will give you decent names. That said, when you schedule a recording you can specify the file name prefix - the default is the channel name, but you can replace that with something of your choosing.

2) if you'd keep the recordings-dump.xml from before that reinstall, then you would have been able to use the 'import recordings' feature. Without that you can either manually edit the recordings-dump.xml to include these now-orphaned video files, or maybe look at some of the utilities on the wiki.

3) It'll only ever mark a recording as "failed" if the recording wasnt running at the time of a recording (or machine switched off). Everything else is not marked as failed, even if the recording is full of garbage. GB-PVR does not monitor that output of the capture device, so has no way to know about other types of problem.

4) This is the order I prefer. From memory you can reverse the order with the red key - Ctrl-R.

5) No, and no plans to add it in future. I've never ended up using this feature on my TVs in the past.

Fair enough but the program was about to start and I was in a hurry (probably hit quick record and then left it). So I'm after a retrospective cleanup (I'd name it correctly of course Wink ).

Cool! Thanks for the tips... I probably took a copy of the gbpvr folder before uninstalling (golden rule - never throw anything away :S )

Ok, thanks for the detail.

Great! Will try tonight. Will it remember my preference (or will I need to ctrl-R each time I enter that list or restart pvrx2)?

Ok, I wouldn't ordinarily either... but just thinking back to the olympics over the last few weeks, with coverage going for hours on end and the schedule prone to variations, P in P would be good for letting you watch your regular programs but keep an eye out for the events you are interested in. But certainly I wouldn't use it for many other occasions...
As a work-around is it possible to start a second copy of pvrx2 and simply size the second window really small (and put on top of the first)?

No, it doesnt remember it, and will revert to the normal order.

Sorry, no. It only lets you start one instance.

mpeg import on the wiki
rename the file to what you want then use mpeg import to scan folder
it will find all the recordings on the harddrive if you choose the highest folder (wont find recordings if you choose harddrive ie"drive c" )
only problem with it now is its no longer updated so the import button doesnt work within the mpeg import program
but you just run it which produces a xml file then use gbpvr import recordings feature

What stu said. Shame it doesn't work to import anymore, I hoped a developer would pick it up and continue (please:-) )... other threads on this:

Interesting, wasn't there a registry entry with the old gbpvr interface that allowed more than one instance running?

It did get boring after the initial playing around though Smile

Was just about to get around to this... looked at the wiki and it does seem like this tool is for mpegs. But I only have the original .ts files. I guess I'll have to manually edit the recordings-dump.xml like Sub suggested?
