I have been happily enjoying GBPVR for some time using 1 HVR1600 and a PVR150. HD (QAM) recording and playback worked fine. I just replaced my PVR150 with a 2nd HVR1600, and have noticed that it is a different model than my 1st HVR1600. Both models are QAM capable though.

I configured my new tuner as device #2 to avoid conflicts with the 1st card. I can successfully record 2 analog shows at the same time, but I have not been able to successfully record 2 digital shows at the same time. One will record, the other just creates 0k size files.

One clue lies in pvrx2.exe-native.log:
2008-09-27 18:50:39.953 VERBOSE m_pD3DDev->Present() failed
Error code : 80004005
E_FAIL
An undetermined error occurred
I have included the full logs to give a bigger picture of the problem.

Any ideas?

On a related but different note, while trying to fix this problem I somehow lost my MainConcept MPEG Splitter. I upgraded to the latest klite full codec pack, but GBPVR still cannot find it. I tried switching to the Haali splitter, but HD playback is jittery with that one. I very well may still have the MainConcept splitter installed on my machine, and it just needs to be re-registered. Can someone please tell me the filename to check so I can register it, or tell me where I can grab it again?

Just a guess, but you might want to check the channels you have configured for each tuner. Make sure no analog channels are set on the digital tuner and no digital channels are set on the analog tuner.

Channels are set as you describe: Analog tuners do not attempt to access the digital channels and the digital ones do not access the analog channels. However, there is definitely something fishy with the QAM scan. When both cards are installed and active, the QAM scan on my new card barely finds anything at all, and nothing useful. I was only able to get a full scan of channels by using Device Manager to disable my 1st card, reboot, and then scan the QAM as device 1. Once I had a good scan to use for mapping the channels, I re-enabled the 1st card, and rebooted. Since there may be a chance that GBPVR still used the disabled card to do the scan, I will physically remove it from my system later today and retry the scan to verify that the new card is finding the QAM channels at all. While inside, I will also verify the model numbers.

It seems that I was fighting a hardware problem with my motherboard. After much grief, testing with 1 card, testing same card in different slot, testing with 2 cards, and wiping the gbpvr database, I found a combination that worked. One of my motherboard pci slots has apparently gone bad. Sorry to bug you guys.
