I've been using this decoder and it worked fine with the older release. Once I upgraded and playback a recording, I now get sound but just a black screen. If I switch to the Cybelink H.264/AVC decoder, playback of the same recording works fine. With Live TV sound and video are both OK, with either decoder.

Anything I need to check for?
Regards,
Hasso

I worked on our own HD-PVR project last night, and found myself at the same place. Using newest drivers (with AVC) and 1.3.7, I got audio with a black screen.

Attaching logs, no snippets since I don't know what you're looking for, but the file was played around 19:27.

LiveTV does work fine. File does play in media centre.

(And sorry for jumping into your thread hasso!)

Seeing the same problem here. It would be SO GREAT if we could just get a "codec pack" that installed into GB-PVR using all open-source codecs and just be done with this. This is how VLC, MPC-HC, etc. work and seems to make life simpler.

Thoughts?

I am also having this problem with my HD PVR. I updated my gbpvr to 1.3.7 and my HD PVR to 1.1. When I play back a video I get audio but no video but also when watch live tv I get video but no audio. My videos all play back in WMP just fine. Any ideas what is causing this.

My old videos (1.0b drivers and aac audio) wont play either but this isn't a big problem.

Some of the open-source codecs don't do the job as well as the others. You could put together a pac to install, but I don't think the open-source license would allow it to be distributed with GBPVR, as it's not open source.

I also don't know if there is an open source codec for H264 / Bluray which also does hardware acceleration. (which a lot of peole still need for playback)

You are correct, it would have to be a separate install (would not be that hard), would just need GB-PVR to be setup to use those codecs. For H264 MPC-HC has DXVA support (I currently use it under Vista using the EVR renderer) works great. I don't see any reason why this shouldn't be done...

I also had the same problem. I fixed the video problem by doing a fresh windows install and installing only arcsoft and power dvd 8 decoders. I use power dvd as the h.264 decoder. Playback of timeshifted TV only seems to workproperly in VMR9 Custom. You may not need to reinstall Windows. I just had so many CODECS and filters on my computer I could not get the setup I am using now to work without the reinstall. The no audio during live tv problem was fixed with the following code inserted in the config file: <PreferredHDPVRAudioFormat>AC3</PreferredHDPVRAudioFormat>. I have been trying to fix this for two weeks, finally works.
