So I received my PCH several weeks ago and have been in the process of converting over to a Client/Server implementation of GbPvr. So far so good with the PC client. The only problem I have (and this has already been reported) is time display and skip issues in TS Mux recordings.

The server records everything just fine, so I guess I shouldn't complain, but what I cannot do is run Pvrx2.exe on the server. When I do, the frame of the application comes up, but it contains a blank screen. The server is running Windows Server 2003, so I'm sure it is probably just missing something that is normally contained in XP, but I don't have a clue what it might be. Anybody else seen this problem?

This has been posted about previously, I think it was a direct X issue, there was a large thread here somewhere that talked about windows server 2003 and home server and how people got it running.

I agree with Captcol. I just built a 2003 Server system a couple of weeks ago and had the same issue when running Pvrx2.exe. I downloaded and installed the latest DirectX 9.0c redistributable form Microsoft and everything worked great. I also recommend that you run dxdiag after installing DirectX to make sure DirectDraw, Direct3D, and AGP Texture Acceleration are enabled on the Display tab.

Thanks for the tips. I finally got around to installing DirectX 9.0 on the server but when I run Pvrx2 I still get a blank display. I also ran dxdiag.exe and enabled hardware acceleration. All I really want to be able to do on the server is to log in remotely to delete recordings, since I cannot get this to work from the client. Anyone know of anything else needed on Windows Server 2003 to get the menus to work?

What rendering are you picking in the config? Try something like VMR9.

Currently I am running Overlay, since this seems to take the least resources. Not sure if I tried Vmr9, but I think I did. Vmr9 also cannot run remotely under Remote Desktop Connection.

if you are running netmeeting as a service or startup, you may need to disable remote desktop sharing

Remote desktop will not display the image remotely; I use VNC when I want to see video on the client software from remote. If you are logged in locally, make sure that you have enabled full hardware acceleration in the video display. Server installs with that setting set to none. Direct-X install may be required. Finally, MS-DVR will not record unless the proper DLL's are moved over from an XP system.

I delete recordings by sharing the recordings folder and just deleting the recording out of the folder. GB-PVR will update it's database when it sees the file is missing. I never remote in for that function. EWA is also handy for deleting recordings.
