I seem to be having some Direct3D related problems on my client machine. My setup:

Host PC Running XPSP2, GBPVR 1.3.7, only plugin is GraphRecorder
Client PC is laptop running Vista Home, GBPVR 1.3.7 as client using streaming

When I try to watch Live TV, I get big time failures in the logs and I get nothing on the screen. The logs basically read like this:

Code:
2008-11-12 21:29:21.651    VERBOSE    SetRenderList creating new texture (512 x 96)
2008-11-12 21:29:21.651    ERROR    m_pD3DDev->CreateTexture(uiElement->image->Width, uiElement->image->Height, 1, 0, D3DFMT_A8R8G8B8, D3DPOOL_MANAGED, &texture, NULL) failed
Error code : 8876086C
D3DERR_INVALIDCALL
Invalid call

One time, I had my playback settings set to VMR9 for rendering and Mpeg Video Decoder for playback, and I eventually got a choppy, very small picture in LiveTV, after waiting maybe 5 minutes. Not sure what that was about.

I'm attaching the logs, hoping that someone can help me out. My laptop has Intel integrated video 965 chipset.

Thanks!

What version of DirectX are you running on the client?
Also, do you have the latest video card drivers installed?

Thanks for replying!

I have DirectX10 on the client, and it has the most up to date version of the Intel 965 driver that is on Dell's site. Interestingly the latest on the Intel site is 10 months newer, but Intel's site identified my driver as being third-party and recommended I get it from them.

Hmm..Have you tried re-installing DirectX on the client?
Not sure what else it might be.

Run dxdiag and make sure the DirectDraw, Direct3D, and Texture Accelerations are all enabled in the Display tab.

Since this is a streaming client, what sort of network are you using? Wireless will generally not work well at all. To rule out the network as the culprit, make a small recording on the server machine, and copy the resulting mpeg file to your client and play that mpeg file within GBPVR. If it plays fine, then the problem is in the streaming / network setup.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.

I did check and the 3 features you mentioned are checked and enabled in dxdiag.

You are correct in that I am trying to play video over wireless. To test your theory that this is the problem, I copied down a small manual recording to the client and played it through the Video Library on PVRX2. It played flawlessly. Now my question is: why does this work just fine over VLC? I can use this same machine over the same wireless connection to play video using EWA and VLC!
