I just installed a clean XP for this running SP3. The capture is a pinnacle PCTV HD Ultimate stick. It plays fine with the TV Center Pro that comes with it. It will scan and find OTA Digital channels with GBPVR but when I go to live TV there is just a blank screen. No Audio or Video. Also when I go to video library and point it to a ripped video_ts folder it locks GBPVR up. Any suggestion of where to start?

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

OK. Hopefully the logs are here. I did not try the vid Library problem yet as I guess they could be related plus thought it might be best to do each prob seperatly

Thanks!

It looks like you dont have an MPEG2 decoder installed.

OK. I downloaded the klite codec full pack and I get video and audio now but it will lock the pc and cause it to reboot. Do you have one you like and would suggest? Also I think the pinnacle might not be the best choice for a capture but I had it laying around and saw it on the list so I thought it should be good enough to figure all this out. What capture device or card do you like best without spending too much.

Thanks for the help!!

Locking up, or rebooting, is likely to be caused by flakey drivers. Maybe look for updated drivers.

Most people here are using Hauppauge devices. Which one exactly depends on what type of signals you want to record.

OK. Sticking with Hauppauge do folks here prefer the internal or USB? The pc I have now I would have to use USB but the plans are to build a pc for this so either is fine.

It shouldnt really matter too much whether you choose internal or external. They have more internal PCI/PCIe cards, so this is what the majority of people are using. They do have some decent external devices like the HVR-1950 though.
