Hello,

I was one of the people that had the vcredist problem, and I fixed it by downloading the vcredist package directly from this site! If you download them from microsoft's site they may not work.

I'll bet you he meant THIS site.

Maybe there's a version situation, where sub is using and distributing a slightly older version of the runtime files than are now offered from Microsoft...

Here is the link:

http://www.gbpvr.com/vcredist_x86.zip

I could not get GBPVR to work with any vcredist_x86.exe from the microsoft site.. I saw some other people had the same problem.. so I fixed my problem by using the one linked above!

They do update vcredist_x86 from time to time, to match the latest versions of the development tools they're shipping. You should use install the version linked in the 1.3.7 announcement thread. You can have other versions installed at the same time though.

I've updated the wiki with this information, though I'm confused as to how a user may have other versions of the runtimes installed. Do the different flavours use different version numbers or identifiers?

Yes, sort of. If you look in c:\windows\winsxs\ you'll see all the runtime libraries, each stored in their own directory. For example, I have multiple versions of msvcrt.dll, stored in two directories called:

x86_microsoft-windows-msvcrt_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.16386_none_cf1e7424a1fb0cd9
x86_microsoft-windows-msvcrt_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6001.18000_none_d15536209ee61dad

The applications contain information that tell them what version they need, and they look for the appropriate directory.
