I really really want to drop media centre and move to GBPVR however:

Goal is to stream live tv to client PC, live tv works great on server (TV) computer after some jigging and pokein.

However when i set the other pc up for client mode, EPG works fine streaming doesnt want to start at all and when i set file sharing mode i plays for a few seconds and stops, i changed the buffer to 4000 then 9000 plays for a little longer and then stops Sad

Both machines are vista 32 ultimate, used the latest GB-PVR 1.13.11 and with and without the patches in the GB-PVR 1.13.11 survival guide.

Tried turning off the firewalls on both, no change, i know others users have had problems with client live tv play back and i thinking it had hit the end of the file and stopping to early.

However even with the max buffer of 9000ms (9 seconds) i still get the fault.

Everything works great apart from streaming live TV which is the one reason i want to drop media centre and stop having to use webguide4.

Someone please help me shed some light on this, ive tried both 100mbps and 1000mbps connection and still get the issue.

I think if i could get streaming working instead of sharing it would sort out all my headaches however its like its just not running on the server, screen goes black and then drops me back to the epg menu.

In file sharing mode, the files created in the main share however it grows very slowly takes maybe 10 seconds before it increases in size a second time, ive tried changing the write cache settings on the hard drive and that made no diffirence.

I read at : http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=41092

another user had a similar problem, but he fixed it a larger buffer, however it wont fix mine, its like the server pc doesnt write the data to the file frequently enough.

HELP me pleeeeeease.

I had this happen to me too and am racking my brain trying to remember. I want to say it was I was lacking the "c:\temp" folder on my client. And point your "Live TV Buffer" under the directories tab in config to the "c:\temp" folder on the client as well.

what mux are you using? i have great results with mpg from ati mux, but also ts mux works now with some patches, but dvr-ms is a no-no for client...

client needs recordings dir and livetv dir setup in config, can be anything, just has to exist..
also may want to try a different demux in config.xml, tho i don't think it is used for livetv...
[always made a difference for me for some reason]
i use mpchc mpeg demux...works great..

Ive tried with TS mux with and without patches, dont have the ati mux but will try again with cyberlink, but need to downgrade from 9 to 8 as it doesnt appear to detect 9.

Regarding the temp folder these both exist in the client and server.

Snooze, if you can remember Smile i would be really happy .

Do you get the "No tuners are available" error?

Are you trying to stream digital channels? If so, I can not help. I cant do that myself. If I read right, Digital channels (TS files) on file share is kind of "iffy" yet. I dont need it so I never tried it. SD channels (mpeg) you should be able to stream with no problem. That I can do, over a wireless G network (barely).

Im trying to stream Standard Definition Digital (uk) freeview. In file sharing mode it plays fine but for only a few seconds before the client thinks its hit the end of the file and stops Sad

However in streaming mode i get a black screen for a few seconds then it bounces me back to the main menu and i get no video at all. Its like in streaming mode the server doesnt answer the client or the client cant contact the server. However ive tried it with both firewalls turned off (client and server) and still i dont get anything Sad

Reproduce this, then zip and attach the client and server logs and I'll see if anything stands out.

I want to see the matching server logs too though, so you'll need to post new logs.
