I recently removed all my devices in GBPVR and readded them because I thought there was an issue with my program guide and I wanted to add my PVR-500 as a way to get my set-top-box added to the mix. I haven't gotten that far.

The last go around I added a total of 8 capture devices (4 analog + 4 Digital = 8) (2 HVR-2250's). I tried that and it wasn't working. I made some changes and it appears now that I can record 4 digital channels at once if I have 2 digital capture devices. The only way that I can capture 4 analog channels at once is if I have 4 seperate capture devices. BUT if I try to record 4 digital channels and then request to add an analog channel I'm not stopped.

How do I get GBPVR to recognize that the card is busy?

Try editing the bda.ini and direct.ini files to make sure the HVR-2250 sections both have the following line:

SHARED_NAME=Hauppauge HVR2250

I have confirmed that both files had those entries.

Thank you,

It's possible to record 4 digital + 1 analog using 2 HVR-2250s and the "multi-record" feature. You won't be stopped if 2 or more of your digital recordings are on the same physical channel. It looks as if most of the digital channels that you are recording are on physical channels 116 or 117.

What you can't do however, is record 4 analog + 1 digital since each analog station is on a different physical channel (frequency).

It sounds like you are worried your system won't recognize when the card is busy. What Whurlston is saying, if you aren't sure, is that your setup may be working right, depending on how it's set up. To check, look in config and see if you have multirecord turned on and are using TS recording.

If you do, then it is probably working right.

To be certain it knows when the cards are busy, try to record 4 digitals from 4 different frequencies, then try to add an analog. You can tell the frequency for a digital channel by checking the scan.cache file.
