I had rebuilt my computers and here is my current setup:

Server: Windows Home Server

GBPVR Computer: Windows XP Pro, Radeon 9200SE, PVR-150

2 MediaMVP

I installed ran in a few snags during install, but I eventually manage to install everything without errors. There are a few issues remaining:

1- Slick skin: there seems to be a few images missing, as indicated in the log files. I also don't get the same background as the skin preview image, but rather a blue one. Anyway to fix that?

2- Running GBPVR on the computer, the screen will go all black for a second or two from time to time when using the DVI out of the Radeon card. This happens either when viewing videos or just browsing the main menu. For example, scrolling through options on the main menu, the screen disappears every 2 or 3 options. When switching to VGA output, everything works well. GBPVR is the only apps I have problem with DVI out.

3- On the MVP, I can't browse the video library. The Videos are stored on the server, so in the config I have define [Videos] to \\Server\Videos. In the Video Library on the MVP I see [Videos], but nothing happens when I select it. Browsing the Video Library works fine from the GBPVR Computer.

Thanks in advance for any help.

If you're referring just to the log message, thats normal. Its just saying that some optional graphics that skins can use, arent being used with this skin.

The default slick skin only ships with the blue background. If you want to use custom artwork, you can place it in "C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\media\MenuArt\Default", or specific screen folders like "C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\media\MenuArt\Music Library"

To be honest I dont know. You're the only person I've seen mention this so I'm guessing its some video card driver bug or something similar.

The MVP server runs as a different user account (localsystem), and it probably doesnt have permission to access your network shares.

I am not asking question often, but I have to say I am impressed by your turnaround time to answer Smile

Item 1: no problem. I may install Communitty skins anyway. Any guides on these optional graphics?

Item 2: That's what I was thinking. I am running the latest drivers. So I guess I have to live with it. The way I am setup now is having the same screen connected to DVI and VGA and the card set as clone screen. I use the VGA when I want to setup recordings mostly, as I don't listen to any show on the PC anyway. If I don't see major differences on quality, I will stick to VGA.

Item 3: I was thinking in that way, but I can't nail it down. When I look at processes, everything GBPVR seems to be running as user SYSTEM. Yet I am able to browse the videos if connected on the PC with my user account. I then tried setting up the guest account on the WHS. I tested it from another PC with another account and it works. However I can get the MVP to connect. Any hints as how to configure?

Its not something I've done myself, but I have seen numerous threads about it in the past, so I'm sure you'll be able find some threads that give you the tips you need.

OK, I can now browse the directory structure in the Video Library. As suggested I changed the user accounts under which GBPVR Recording Service is running.

I still have one issue. I can browse to the mpg stored in the video library but if the mpg is on the WHS server it won't play. The MVP reboot imediatly. I tried the mvpmc dongle, and with this one it kicks me out of emulation and back to the mvpmv main screen. When I copy the mpg to a local drive, I can play it.

Any idea anyone?

Reproduce the problem, then post the logs and I'll see if anything stands out.

I'm guessing its still permissions related.

Unfortunately that log just shows the MVP sitting at the main menu. Can you set the number of MVP servers back to 1, then reproduce the problem repost the MVP-PVRX2.exe.log?
