I just got my ATSC set up and it looks great....great job with GBPVR. I got a question however, i remember seeing a post about splitters (i have analog and OTA channels) and which one to use, however i cant remember which to use.

Also, i use schedulesdirect however i the tv guide with the OTA channels doesnt show anything, did i do somethign wrong in the config?

Last question, how come the channels dont show up as 4.1, 5.1, 5.2? They are like 101 104 etc?

Thanks

I found the answer to the last question, from a previous post. It just doesnt do it huh? Does it just put them at the end of the analog channels, the number that is?

Its a North Amercian-ism not used elsewhere, so I couldnt be bother implementing a concept of channel numbers with the ".subchannel" thingy. Instead they just get allocated a regular-old-fashioned channel number at the end of the list.

You'll need to be a little more specific about what you're trying to do. What is/are your source(s), where are you trying to get the signals to go?

Yes, you did something wrong, but again you'll need to be a little more specific about your setup. How did you get the OTA channels into the program in the first place... did you manually enter them, or did you select multiple lineups at schedules direct, or something else? Agin information about your sources would be helpful.

As you've discovered, GB-PVR doesn't support any form of two-part channel numbers. In fact, for digital sources channel numbering is entirely up to you - you can enter whatever numbers you want on the Channels tab in config. On my setup (OTA digital only) I just gave the primary channels their traditional number, and then worked the sub-channels in where I could. For example:

2.1=2
4.1=4
4.2=14
5.1=5
5.2=6
7.1=7
...
28.1 = 28
28.2 = 29
28.4 = 27 (since there's another channel at 30)
30.1=30
... and so on.

I guess if you have an analog source as well already occupying the lower numbers, you may not be able to do that... but ultimately the point is you can give numbers that make sense to you.

I also solved the other question about my lineups...i just deleted my old capture digital device and made a new one. After i got all done mapping everything...i updated again and it worked just fine. Still need to know if there is a difference amongst cable splitters...that is do i need anythign special to run my analog (wall cable) and my antenna (OTA) to one device then to my 2250 capture card? That does work right?

Also....what does the GB stand for in GBPVR?

Assuming you're not trying to combine them on one cable (you can't), most any decent quality splitter will do particularly if you're splitting close to the devices... if you have a long run after the splitter, that's when you really need to worry about a high quality or even amplified splitter. And no, you don't need any special high-mhz splitter - those are for satellite and high-frequency digital cable setups.

Gang Buggery.

Just kidding. Hang around long enough and you'll find out. I'm sure sub will tell you if you send in a donation Wink

For cable, you should use 1000 Mhz (1 Ghz) splitters. OTA can use 650 Mhz but I would just get all 1 Ghz. As Johnsonx42 said, you don't need satellite grade (2 Ghz) splitters and you cannot combine OTA and cable on one line since the frequencies overlap.

My solution to meaningful channel numbers is to to edit the number in Config and use the number.sub, just drop the period. So, 4.1 would be changed to 41, 13.2 to 132, etc. Then in the TV Guide you'll see 41 and 132 and you'll mentally extrapolate out the sub number. It makes it easy to adjust the numbers again with future versions of GBPVR.

Whurlston....what would you suggest i do since i have both. I actually, on my antenna, there is a switch already to go between antenna and analog. I have my analog running thorugh my HD antenna and just switch between the two but....lazily, i dont want to get up and switch all the time. Short of buying another tuner, is there any solution?
