Hi,

My install has developed an interesting problem. About two days ago I noticed that I can no longer watch Live TV, but recordings still occur okay. It turns out, from my untrained look at the logs, that recordings are being made on my Nova-T stick fine, but Live TV is sourced from my HVR-900.

On removal of the HVR-900, and running the box with only the Nova-T stick, Live TV works just fine.

On reconnection of the HVR-900, config is able to scan for channels and display picture and sound just fine. Can even hop between channels on request. However, when I save the config, open PVRX2 and try to watch Live TV, it just quits back to the GBPVR main menu.

If I now go back into config, the HVR-900 is set as a "Hauppauge Nova-S" on "Astra 1C". No matter how often I change it to a HVR-900, it never accepts the setting. It always goes back to a Nova-S.

The box was working perfectly up until the middle of the week. I'm quite confused, as far as I can tell no updates have been applied to the system. The box did crash once and require a hard boot, so I suspect maybe a database is corrupt, but before spending hours reinstalling and reconfiguring I thought I'd ask here in case there is a simple fix??

Thanks Smile

Are you on Vista/Win7? If so, try deleting the "c:\users\<your account>\appdata\local\virtualstore\program files\devnz" directory, then try again.

Hi Sub,

I'm on Windows XP. Did a bit of looking around on the machine and can't find anything similar in the hidden "Application Data" directories. Any advice?

It occured to me at lunch today, I haven't tried doing a system restore. I might give that a go and report back tonight.

Thanks Smile

Hi,

I have tried system restores back to 2-weeks ago when if definately did work, no joy!

Any thoughts on what else may have become corrupt, or is this a case of a reinstall?

Thanks Smile

P.S. - Have tested the HVR-900 on my laptop with Hauppauge software and it works fine, so I doubt it's a hardware problem.

Do you have multiple capture sources?

It basically looks like you've ended up with a capture source that doesnt have the device type set. If it doesnt find the specified card type in the bda.ini file then the default value is 'DVB-S', and then it fails soon after because the tuning request isnt in the correct format for DVB-S.

Hi sub,

Thanks for the really fast feedback!

I've have a Nova-T USB Stick and a HVR-900. Have had both running in the machine for nearly two years, this issue is a recent development.

If I tick "Display only cards detected in this machine" then it reports the Nova-T and the HVR-900. Selecting HVR-900, I can map channels and view audio and video in the config app.

However, as soon as I okay the config app and exit, it no longer works. Returning to the capture config, it identifies the HVR-900 as a Nova-S (as you say, the first card on the list). Quite confusing.

If this is a completely oddball problem that doesn't look like there is an easy fix, I could give give GBPVR a reinstall and see if that helps?? Next resort might be a complete OS reinstall, but hopefully not till I buy a nettop! Smile
