problem with video inset

Hi all,

I recently had to rebuild my machine for various reasons and have everything working as it should be with the exception that video inset no longer works. The home key is mapped on my remote correctly and responds as it should in TV Listings(it takes me back to the menu) but in live tv/recorded tv, etc it does nothing. The showkey utility registers that I am pressing the Home key when I press the menu button. I have VMR9 Custom set, installed Direct X 10, have tried disabling all my plugins/codecs/comskip, and i'm at a loss at this point. I have checked the logs and everything looks fine as far as I can tell. It registers that I request video inset and from the logs it would appear to be doing it but it's not. I have attached my logs. Has anyone run into this before?

Does it work if you set your skin to "Blue"?

I thought the same thing, skin, but no, it doesn't. I've done some additional checking and have verified that it doesn't seem to be Win7 and it's infamous file protection(i don't have the gbpvr directory in my profile.

In config.xml, is <UseVideoInset> set to true?

Wow, you rock! I was on the cusp of finding this through searching but in 3 seperate DVR setups, 2 with Windows 7 I have never run into this before. Thank you thank you! I can't understand though why this would suddenly become an issue, is there something that I should look for in the config settings when doing an initial setup?

I am glad it works now for you. I remember once I was wondering what happened video inset wasn't available to me, and I found that in the forums somewhere. Not sure how/why it was set to false, just glad to have it back. Good luck with your fresh setup!

That feature is probably one of my favorite things about GBPVR. Thank you again for your help! Hopefully my setup will remain rock solid now that i've got everything like I want it, you know how well Windows tends to handle constant modifications

if you use evr or one of the options where inset isn't available, it'll automatically change that setting to false, and you have to change it back when you change mention option back..
i wish it would automatically change back, since it changes itself without user intervention..

That would explain things then, I did install the SAF codec pack and this changed the options around. Thanks for the info!
