My experience so far:

Avisynth is useless because of too many different versions (2.56, 2.57, 2.58. 2.60a1/a2/a3 ST and MT variants which aren't compatible each other) and bad filter support (filter a just works with avisynth b, filter b only works with avisynth c and so on). The idea ist great and the functions mighty, but the realization of it is just a pain.

For realtime stuff it's better not to rely on Avisynth, instead using some filter from e.g. ffdshow/display adapter/tv.

A combination of ffdshow/display driver/tv can not replace TruTheaterHD, but it can raise the picturequality of videos though.

I'll play around a bit more, currently now i am not really satisfied.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I just wanted to say that I am using the Tzan Filter with MPC-HC. In order to use it you have to the Cyberlink Video Decoder. It will specify the proper filters and will load the Tzan filter provided you have it registered in the registry.

To register the Power DVD filters in Windows7, Start, Run, regsvr32 <file-name>.

For the file name you will type in the path of your PowerDvd folder. For me it's C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD12\Common\VideoFilter

Now you want to type in regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD12\Common\VideoFilter\file-name.ax" for each of the .ax files you see. Reboot.

Now go into Media Player Classic-HC and disable all source and transform filters under the options, Internal Filters.

Go to options, External Filters, add filter.

Add all of the cyberlink filters and set them all to "prefer".

I use evr custom presenter as my renderer and have gotten the best results.

Now load a movie and you should see the Tzan filter included in you filter chain.
