Hi,

It is definatley samsung compatible - I have one and the redeye serial works fine. I think you ar looking at the wrong item, they make two different ones, and the reason it says not for samsung ia that the original redeye is not required for the samsung.

However, the redeye serial works perfectly well - See http://redremote.co.uk/serial/

where it also states this

Hope this helps

by the way - what s/w works with the redeye serial or do you configure certain codes for the type of box?

thanks again

Download redeye2.exe from here

place it in the gbpvr folder

Point the channel changer part of GBPVR recording source to this exe, after selecting exe as the channel changer

The parameters field is -port=com1 "={channel}"

Its also worth downloading the reddemo app from here to test the sender before using through GBPVR as the position on the front of the STB is crucial, and its a bit hit and miss as the infrared receiver is very well hidden (I found just above the first channel number digit is the best position for me)

ok, i got a redeye serial, connected via USB-RS232 cable, set to RC5 (by sending redeye2.exe -port=COM3 "&") but still nothing!

anyone got these working on a samsung box? seems whatever i get to change channel, it doesn't work...

i emailed the redeye people but not had recent response.

There is a demo program you can download from their website (http://www.redremote.co.uk/serial/reddemo.exe ) which allows you to test the device sending all sorts of key combinations from a GUI.

I understand positioning of the device is also very important - mine is just to th top right of the numbers in the samsung display.

Finally, does the red LED on the device flash when you send commands to it (if not, then something is very wrong)

best of luck

As garyeuph says, try the demo program first, it is very critical where to position it on the front of the Samsung

Mine is at the top left of the first number digit
