Hello, I am a total newb, so I apologize in advance. Set up an htpc about 5 years ago and now want to upgrade using NextPVR.

Hardware
Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000 Brisbane 2.6GHz Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor
GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-S2H AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

OS:
Fresh install of Windows XP Service Pack 3 + all updates

I am using the onboard hdmi for video and sound. I am using the latest NextPVR version. I am using SAF 6.2.2 unlocked. I have a regular antenna getting atsc signals through my pvr card. I get great video, but no go on sound. same thing with dvd plugin in NextPVR. I get video but no sound. I'm using LAV for everything. I do get sound when I am not using NextPVR.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Are you using HDMI output to your TV?
That board uses Realtek HD Audio if I remember correctly. Try checking the Realtek Audio Manager in Control panel and setting HDMI as default.

NextPVR doesn't support the LAV splitter, but you can use the LAV decoder. Without logs the only thing I can suggest is make sure you set NextPVR to use the Default Audio Device.

Something for you to compare-- I also use SAF 6.x and for my audio decoders, I use the ffdshow audio decoder for mpeg1 audio and LAV audio decoder for AC3. I have the other three disabled. For the DVD, I use the LAV audio decoder. My tuner is a Hauppauge HVR-2250 for ATSC. I use HDMI output through an ATI 5450 going to a A/V receiver.

Thank you for the suggestions. I have it on default audio device. I will try ffdshow for mpeg1. however, ffdshow doesnt show up in my dropdown. only think that showed up was lav decoder? This was after i installed SAF 6.x. Is there something else i have to do? Also, how do i find the logs so i can send them? thanks!

I had the same problem, setting the audio renderer from default directly to the TOSHIBA TV AUDIO DEVICE in my case fixed it. Default or Intel HDMI audio did not get me audio.

If it's still not working, zip and attach logs to a post ...

The ffdshow audio is an option during install of SAF that is not installed by default. I personally use it for my mp3 playback so that I can send it out as 5.1.

Is the receiving end of the HDMI cable going to a TV or to an A/V Receiver?

I reinstalled saf and ticked ffdshow audio decoder. that didnt help. but thank you. my hdmi cable is going to TV.

log files are attached. im getting this directx runtime message too. It says in red letters that directx cant run on this machine, using software rendering instead. not sure if that has anything to do with sound.

thanks!
