Reven Hi

As you know I am an avid MyMusic user. I know you do not have an MVP and its main design is for the PC. I have a couple of thoughts and requests which you may be able/want to help with.

Using the MVP with TV & a Remote does not feel very natural or intuitive to swap between the 3 MYMusic zones ie MenuButtons, Lists & Page up/down.

Because a lot of the functions are mapped to RC buttons I can very nearly get away with just using the detail zone.

For example, page up/down, Play All, Add to playlist, view etc have mapped buttons. Ideally it would be great if ALL the Menu Buttons had RC equivalents, however the ones that would be of most value would be Shuffle Playlist and view Current playlist.

Would this be possible?

I have experimented with the skin and with my widescreen TV can map 6 columns of regular Icon view by shrinking the MenuButtons to near invisibility(without you making prog changes).

Not saying this would definitely be how I used it, but, as I have over 300 albums, having the RC buttons would provide a hell of a lot of flexibility for us MVP MyMusic users.

Cheers

I also have a question regarding the 'My xxxx' series of plugins on the MVP. For some reason the selecting the 'sort' options does not appear to do anything - folder contents are always displayed alphabetically. This is not a huge problem, but sometimes it would be nice to sort albums by a particular artist chronologically.

(Haven't tried it on the PC as I use gbpvr exclusively over mvp, but I'm sure it works on the desktop)

Does anyone else experience this?

Thanks in advance.

Groover Hi

None of mine work on the directory/folder level but one, I forget which, works at track level.

You have hit on another of my hoobby-horses re sorting in general. Yes I would like to be able to list my albums chronologically but in order to do that (given you could have 2 albums in the same year) you would need to preceed the tiltle with eg a number (a la tracks).

Also I would like to list Artists by First Name/Last Name yet sort them the other way round, a bit like you can do in an address book. For now my choice seems to call the Artist Folder - LastName, FirstName.

With regard to my Button request Reven must be busy I guess.

Cheers

alan, its just a matter of which buttons to use (i may have run out of available buttons, i cant remember ...). also i would really prefer it if gbpvr handled the "shuffle" feature itself, ie so i dont shuffle the playlist, it stays in order but the next track jumps eg on track 5 next jumps to track 73 (of course previous probably wont work anymore). (ps sorry for late reply, i dont really look at the mvp forum).

groover km - i designed them this way, i dont want to sort the folders, they're folders, i just want them to be displayed in alphabetical order (i will never ever change this... well probably not, i like it this way).

Reven thanks

I have just done a check on the RC buttons.

As far as I can see, as well as the numbers, the following are available in MyMusic:

Go - Mute - Full - >> - Rec

Also a couple of inconsistencies:

The OK button functions as PLAY/STOP at track level. PLAY only functions after a PAUSE but << functions as PLAY but NOT AFTER a PAUSE.

So I would suggest (if you can) using FULL for Shuffle and MUTE for Toggle File/Playlist. You (and others) might say this is inconsistent naming but given the Vol+- don't work as they are curser keys I dont think it matters.

I, and I am sure many, will use a Universal RC and therefor can map them to appropriate keys.

Once again, many thanks for a great product.

Cheers

mute is unavailable (its being used to mute).
i wont use >> (i assume you mean fastforward) and record since they seem out of place.
full isnt on the 45 button remote (im use another button eg {f7} which you can map full to, which makes sense to use full to cycle thru aspect ratios)

so available = go and {f7} (which can be mapped to full).

err just to check can you manually map buttons on the mvp?

also what functions do you want? you only can choose two.

Understand, but just so you know MUTE does NOT work on my MVP MyMusic, neither do the Vol+-. In MyVideos, although the Vol+- works, the MUTE does not.

Whilst I agree, its no more out of place than << ie FastRewind being a (sometimes) PLAY function

I really dont need aspect change in MyMusic. I really dont know if I can map to my MVP remote, where would I do that?

Priority 1 (for me) would be Shuffle. GO SHUFFLE sounds appropriate...
Priority 2 Toggle File/Current Playlist

Anything else I can get around - as I would only use occasionally.

On a general note would it be possible (if you wanted [Image: icon7.gif]) to map RC in the skin?

Many Many thanks

yes but MUTE and Vol+- do work, err not on the mvp (so they are in use, i use them).

i have no idea where this is a play function

i dont know, i dont have a mvp.

if you want toggle, i would have to use "Go" to toggle, since ive used that in several other plugins (well... i used it in my programs, i think i removed it from my videos, also i think i have got a toggle (ctrl-tab) in my music somewhere...)

OK Reven excuse my ignorance, like you do not have an MVP, I do not have any other Hauppauge stuff, so I guess from your comment that the RC(s) are common to more than one piece of equipment.

Somebody mentioned an iremote.ini file but I can't find one. Maybe I'll ask on another thread.

So if I cant map and that means I can only have one button[Image: icon9.gif] then I choose 'Shuffle' as if I choose 'View Playlist' and can't toggle I cant get back without resorting to the current way.

Cheers

irremote.ini is found in the windows dir eg C:\windows\irremote.ini but i have no idea if this works for the mvp, it works with the remotes for the 150/250/350.

you can have "go" and "full", you just need to remap the full button to something, ie {f7}.
