I've been reluctant to start pulling hardware but that's about all that's left. I guess I'll start by dropping back to a single card but I just don't "feel" that as the problem --- but I'm running out of ideas.
The cable input video performance has the earmarks of a either a very low signal level problem or a tuning/frequency problem. But with 7dB of amplification I can't imagine that it's signal level; +7db is a hugh boost in signal. And the HKLM/Software/Microsoft/TV System Services/TVAutoTune registry settings match the correct frequencies so that doesn't seem to pan out --- unless the tuning data actually comes from somewhere else?
And the video results for the composite in from the satellite receiver are crisp and clear --- that's one of the things that leads me away from power loading or noise etc.
For the audio I'm leaning toward putting in a sound card rather than using the onboard audio to see if that makes a difference.
