Hello I am new to this, so please go easy on me, I got my media mvp today, and hate the software it comes with, so after looking at sites that do other software for it, I decided to use this one, the only prob is how do I get it to work? I have downloaded it, and installed it but nothing worked, (I did take of the old software before installing) I don't know how to get it to work, and now until I know what to do I have gone back to the old software, until I know what to do. Can anyone help me?

Thank you

Hi John,
GBPVR is an excellent product, very easy to set up, and it DOES work great!
What is your main goal? What hardware, in addition to the MVP, is installed on your system? Have you tried to read any of the documents available on the Wiki?

Regards,
Krys

disable the original hauppauge services.

Go into gbpvr config
go to the playback tab

change the number of servers to auto start to 1. Click ok and restart the mvp

Can you describe the problem, other than "I cannot get it to work". Have you tried Jorm's suggestions? Do you have a firewall installed on your computer which may be blocking the packets between GBPVR and the MVP?

Did the Hauppauge software work when it was installed?

Cheers,
Colin.

sorry for being such an idiot, I do thank you for your help. When I installed the default software it came up on zone alarm to acept the 2 software things, to allow them, which I did, and this all worked, when I have installed the new software there are no firewall warnings

That is odd. I usually get a couple of zone alarm warnings when I install gbpvr and the mvp. Does anything happen from the pc or tv side? Are you stuck "contacting servers?" Try disabling all firewalls for a test.
