sub,

I have upgraded this weekend to v.16. Abviously a glutton for punishment as v.15 was working just fine. Anyway, uninstalled the entire application and deleted all directories and even cleaned the registry (didn't want to get caught by old settings etc.)

Installed v.16, configured and imported the epg. All functions beautifully until I try "Live TV". The application appears to hang but in fact I do not believe it is. In the log file I can see "About to play file: D:\MyVideos\livetv-2-0.mpg" as the last entry and if I take a look at that file it has been created with a file size of 78336809KB!!!!!!! If I leave the "hung" app for a while the screen goes black and I am able to press escape which takes me back to the main menu. If I press "Live TV" again then I get "About to play file: D:\MyVideos\livetv-2-1.mpg" in the log and lo and behold this file has been created with a file size of 78336809KB. OK wait a while and press escape again. Then back into Live TV once more and this time the log says "Just after play file: D:\MyVideos\livetv-2-2.mpg" and everything is fine. I can now press escape and get back to the main menu and play Live TV to my hearts content.

Any ideas? Log file below.

PK

Fully repeatable - as soon as I stop and restart gb-pvr it does it again. I can work around it by escaping out and backin again twice then all is fine.

What are you using for playback (VMR/OVRLAY/XCARD/MVP/PVR350)?

Well the setup I have has a pvr350 and mediaMVP but when I'm just setting stuff up I do not use the mediaMVP just the local PC so I am using None - software decoder, InterVideo NonCSS Video Decoder and VMR9 so that playback is through the monitor. Normally I would use the mediaMVP server but until this all works I don;t like to have to keep going up and down the stairs (lazy huh?)

I've been having problems with .16 and LiveTV playback too. It seems to freeze after a while, but I can eventually escape back to the menu and go back in. PVR350 by the way.

I'll check out my logs and post them when I get home tonight.

sub,

just to add a little more information. Through the mediaMVP everything is absolutely fine in terms of playing LiveTV. The problem only occurs when I play live TV on the PC with software rendering. And the file size seems to always be 78336809KB regardless of whether the file livetv-?-?.mpg exists or not! Most peculiar.

The only file I can picture might possibly be able produce this behaviour is GBPVRWriter.ax. You could possibly try installing the last release, and taking a copy of this file. Reinstall the new release and replace the file.

Let me know how you get on. If this is the problem, we'll get a patch out quick smart.

Have the same behavior in V16 as Paul initially describes, the gbpvrwriter.ax version 15e indeed solves the problem! Paul, did you solve it, if so, how?
