[Image: smile.gif] Hi everyone! I'm new to this software, new to the board and relatively new to PVRs in general (although fairly experienced when it comes to computers).

First off - your software looks great! I'm very interetested in using it with my PVR-250 and MediaMVP for my PVR needs (pretty much as desceibed in this article over at byopvr.com) but, I can't seem to get things working correctly. I'm still in the "configuring" stage at this point... I haven't even gotten to trying to make it work with the MediaMVP yet.

I've downloaded/installed the latest version (0.19.3) and the setup seems to be fairly straightforward but, I'm having some problems.

My first issue is getting the EPG data to load. When I try to update the EPG data, I get the message "Your EPG source does not appear to be configured correctly. Please check the EPG Source Settings and try again". I know the settings are correct as I can use the link from the settings page and login to my laps.zap2it.com account. If I look in the Config.exe.log file I see the following:

[b Wrote:Quote[/b] ]7/30/2004 1:25:34 PM.311 INFO [397] Requesting listings for period: 2004-07-30T00:00:00Z - 2004-08-07T00:00:00Z

  at a.b()
As a side note, I see the same error about "The underlying connection was closed: Unable to connect to the remote server." if I try to access any of the comics from the actual interface itself.

Any idea what could be causing this?

For both downloading the EPG listings and comics, GB-PVR needs to go out across the internet to retrieve information. In the case of your machine GB-PVR doesnt seem to be able to do this.

Do you have a filewall that is getting in the way? or possibly a proxy server? I'm guessing you're running some firewall software on your machine which is stopping GB-PVR accessing the internet.

Wow. Thanks for the lighting fast response sub!

I was about to quickly respond with a "nope- no firewalls or proxy server here!" but, your post got me thinking. I was previously running ZoneAlarm but, shut it off a while back when I was having problems with it interfering with the MediaMVP. Your post made sense, and I had read similar responses in other posts. On a whim, I started ZoneAlarm back up and then tried the EPG Update again and, after telling ZonaAlarm to allow the traffic from GB-PVR... it worked! (As you might guess, the comics plug-in works now too.)

So, something was still blocking the traffic but, since ZA wasn't running, I wasn't getting the option of allowing the traffic thru. Now that I've seen this, I do remember reading something about VSMON remaining active even if ZA isn't running. I'll have to dig around and see what I can find out. For now, I'll keep ZA running (until it causes me more pain!Wink.

Now... I'm off to see if I can get GB-PVR working with the MediaMVP.

Thanks again for the quick response!
