Hi all,

After months of researching the topic, I finally built my first PVR. Well, sort of. First of all, thank you so much for this wonderful piece of software. Truly remarkable!

My PC works both as my PC and as the PVR. Hence, the natural choice for me was to go with MediaMVP. I read many reviews about it and about how good the quality of the picture / sound is so I decided to give it a go. I have a few comments/ suggestions about it:
- Divx play: I don't know if it is a hardware limit, but why does my widescreen movie clips appear on the top portion of the screen? Is anyone else experiencing this? Like instead of two black bars (one on top the other on the bottom) I get the movie on the top portion of the screen and just a huge black bar on the bottom.
- Sync: If you forward or rewind your clip, it seems that audio and video go out of sync. Anyone else getting this?
- Volume in Playing Music: When I try to hit the Volume UP key on the remote, the cursor goes to the right instead of increasing the volume. Is there a file I can configure to assign the volume to some other key? I noticed that volume works fine when outside the Music section (even if an audio file is playing).
- I don't know if it is a MediaMVP limit, but it will be cool to select a folder and have the system play all files in it (and all subfolders). This I guess is espcially useful for us Ipoders since our CD catalogs are automatically arranged in directories and subdirectories.
- Does MVP support 'resume' on video clips?

Like I said, the system is flawless on my PC, but I guess perhaps MVP has a limit. Are there any alternatives anyway to MVP?

Thank you!

You can use ffdshow or avisynth to force the movie to be the correct size or aspect ratio, but this require some manual 'tinkering' on your part.

Some people reported NTSC 24fps AVI video gets out of sync during transcoding. The only fixes are to either transcode to 30fps, or use a avisynth wrapper.

I guess you're talking about the older 34 button remote which shares the right navigation arrow with the volume+ key? There is nothing you can do about this. The MVP now ships with 45 button remote which has separate volume and navigation keys.

The build in music player has a simple function to let you play all files in a folder. The extra music plugins you can download have much more advanced features including those you ask for.

Quote:- Does MVP support 'resume' on video clips?
On the PC you can resume any file type, if you have the 'propt for resume' setting enabled. On the MVP you can only resume MPEG files (not AVI files since these need to be transcoded from the beginning).

Thank you very much man. From reading the many posts I can see you are the developer of this product. It rocks!!

Yea LOL I got my MVP from ebay for like $60 shipped. But anyway, I am getting the PVR-150 so **hopefully** the remote that comes with it will work with MVP.

I will see regarding the Music plugins.

As for Divx playback, I guess I should just accept the limits of MVP (the device is doing plenty already) or do manual tweaking on the clips I will be watching frequently. I created this whole system to perform PVR functionality(GBPVR definitely did that and beyond!), so anything else (like Divx playback) is really icing on the cake.

Yes, this should give you a 45 button remote that works with the MVP.

Thanks. I guess I will use the older remote with the PC itself and use the new one with the MVP.

I think it will be cool for next release if GB's MVP server is minimized to the tray rather than the taskbar. I mistakingly closed the window several times Smile .

Shouldn't make a bit of difference, I always close mine without issue. As long as the GBPVR.exe process is still running, that's all that matters.

Unless you are manually starting the MVP server process from the shortcut in the GBPVR start menu folder (assuming it's still there) instead of setting the autostart parameter in the config app.
