I've just installed NPVR to use with my HDHomerun Dual (Older white case model). I'm using an Acer Revo as my HTPC. My goal is to use it to stream to XBMC on the same Win7 PC as well as to a Raspberry Pi running OpenElec (not necessarily simultaneously).
My first priority is to get NPVR running properly standalone, but I've hit a minor roadblock.
I have my devices and channels setup.
I've setup EPG with Schedules Direct.
I can record programs from the EPG that play properly with VLC.
Now the roadblock.
I cannot watch Live TV (Black screen with perfect audio).
I cannot watch my recordings through NPVR (Black screen with perfect audio).
I'm assuming that rendering is my issue, but my setup is totally stock and seems to agree with what I've read here in the forum.
I've attached a zip of my logs. I kept it as short as possible to hopefully make troubleshooting easier.
I just moved over from GBPVR and I can't find a place for EPG? In GBPVR there's a EPG directory and an UpdateEPG batch file. I copied my GBPVR EPG directory to NPVR and copied the batch file. I updated the batch file to the new location and updated the batch file pointers. I ran GETEPG and mc2xml updated, but, it the TV guide doesn't show any data.
I ran Update EPG from the channel menu in settings and if I go to TV guide, it doesn't list any programs but if I click "Watch TV" live TV is displayed.
Did I put the EPG in the wrong place? Do I need to rename it?
I'm trying to delete the first show in this list (Blues vs Hurricanes), but when I pull the menu up (PCH A100) it offers the filename form the last one in the list? Super Rugby_2104_etc?
I thought I'd start a new thread for this instead of tacking it to the end of the thread about deep entry points.
I finished a Confluence version of the XNEWA Home screen, and I thought I'd post a couple screen shots for feedback (attached). I've learned more than I ever really wanted to know about skinning (and the Confluence skin in particular), but I think it turned out OK. I used the Confluence blades for the menu, so I gained a fair amount of space on the screen. The only hitch is that the blade defaults to open because XNEWA puts focus on the first menu item. It's not the worst thing in the world, and might actually be better for folks still unfamiliar with the Confluence blades.
Feedback would be nice, just keep in mind that after 10 hours, I'm a little attached to this.
Once I confirm this is a good direction, I'll start working on the other screens.
I think this issue occurs after the NPVR EPG does an update. I find that a programme will appear 2 or more times in the same time slot BUT the start and end times of the duplicate will be slightly different to the first instance of the programme.
As an example MASH starts at 6:00 PM and finishes at 6:30PM. After an EPG update I can see that programme but there is also a second entry for MASH showing as starting at say 6:02PM and finishing at 6:33PM.
On the TV Guide what you get is a very small box for the 1st instance then the 2n instance seems to over lay most of where the first instance would normally be located if there was not a 2nd instance over laying it. I hope that makes sense.
Some channels seem to be worse than others. The TEN network is the worst one. Sometimes 7Mate has the same issue but not often. Other channels don't do this at all.
To me this could be either:
The EPG is not clearing out the channels programme list before storing the EPG from the latest download
or
The networks are constantly changing their programme start and end information by a couple of minutes in the EPG and this confuses NPVR into thinking this is a completely new TV show.
The issue with this is that I get the same programme being recorded by multiple tuners and missing out on other programmes.
If I manually dump the EPG and then Update it manually I get a clean EPG but the next time it auto updates I start getting the duplicates again.
I'm hoping someone has a suggestion of the cause and a solution.
Thank you
Had an VF ISP salesman come by and offer a deal to move to fibre which we couldn't pass... Bundled VF TV into it as well, but I actually had no idea until it was being installed that it was TV over IP (was described as a box swap with different badge on front).. Wondered if the IP broadcast can be captured by NPvr ?? (im guessing not...). Can record natively, but is more flexible to have on the HTPC if I want to keep a recording... Thanks
Does the Movies plugin work with DVD rips in folder format? It doesn't seem to work for me. Is there a switch I need to use?
Thanks.
Edit: The video works, but it doesn't show any posters or fanart even though it's there. This is only for the dvd rips in folder format. Looking at the output of the xml file, it is clear that it doesn't know where the art is. Fixing this would make it the perfect plugin.
