New EPG-based Live TV Timeshift Buffer not keeping file
Posted by: Handy.Man - 2014-02-20, 09:19 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

To enable New EPG-based Live TV Timeshift Buffer, I changed the setting in Misc to EPG-Based, when using Live TV, the file is created using EPG show name.

According to the http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...arted-Info

In this mode you if you press Record on the show you're currently watching, the entire buffer back to when you first started to watch will now be saved as a regular recording.

I don't use a Remote, so no Record button for me to press. I tried with Ctrl-K but as soon as I exit Live TV, the file vanishes ? . And there is no Option to record when you right click in NextPVR ....

Is Ctrl-K the same as Pressing Record on a remote ?

Not deleting recording - plus can't seem to get logs.
Posted by: martint123 - 2014-02-20, 09:08 PM - Forum: NextPVR for Samsung - Replies (21)

I can't seem to get logs from the portal. Pressing search on 'today' displays nothing.

version 0.2.74.283

On recordings (whats new) screen, select top item and then delete, confirm OK and the entry disappears from the list.
BUT - the details stay put in the right hand pane.
Also cursor up and the just deleted file re-appears and is playable.

if logs are visible to you John, then I just did it again round about 21:00 GMT.

(cust & paste onto the portal as well).

Same problem on the normal recordings screen as well.

Is anyone getting surround sound from UK HD channels?
Posted by: JP23 - 2014-02-19, 07:28 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

I've been getting rather frustrated with not being able to get 5.1 output from any HD TV broadcasts.

Is anyone managing to do this? If so, what decoder are you using?

I have tried LAV as suggested in various threads, but no joy.

[Feature Request?] Flagging TV Tuner channels as radio channels.
Posted by: lsu jonno - 2014-02-19, 02:34 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (1)

Hey guys,

I have a question/request. XBMC has a submenu item called "Radio Channels" under the "Live TV" main menu item. Presumably, this submenu item will pull up any FM radio stations that you can receive as reported by your PVR back-end. I say presumably because I don't have an FM tuner in my computer to test this function.

Screenshot here for reference:
http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/r774...183175.png

Through my cable carrier I have access to digital music channels that get mapped like any other channel to my EPG when NPVR scans my tuners (HDhomerun Prime) for channels. Currently I separate these music channels from my regular TV channels using the channel grouping feature in NPVR and that works well enough. My question is this, is there a way to flag these music channels as "Radio Channels" in NPVR so that it will report them to XBMC as "Radio Channels" thereby separating them from my Live TV EPG in XBMC and putting them in the separate menu item "Radio Channels"?

If this is not possible, is this a feature that would draw enough interest to implement?

Thanks.

Dead motherboard - thoughts on ASRock replacement?
Posted by: wodger - 2014-02-19, 11:26 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (9)

My NPVR's motherboard gave up tonight after months of overheating (and neglect). Had a bit of a look around and found this combo. Maybe I'll buy the kit from trademe or maybe I'll get the parts separately from somewhere like Paradigm PCs.

Currently everything is in the garage under the lounge floor so fan noise isn't an issue (but evidently heat can be .. and it seems I didn't have enough fans - I got five years out of the kit though and it was about 3-4 years old when I got it). Thinking I might end up putting the system in a nice black HTPC case (to match my receiver) under the telly someday.

Wondered what you good folk thought of this hardware? One thing that appeals to me about it is the HDMI out, apparently including audio. My signature is out of date, I now have a 55" samsung LED telly with HDMI, obviously.

Hard drive filled, cleaned, but now recording service won't start
Posted by: drlava - 2014-02-19, 03:20 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

Hi guys, well the hard disk got filled and npvr froze ad had to be killed. I freed some space on the hard drive, but now even after reboots the recording service won't start (see attached):

Is there any way to fix this without having to reinstall and re-set up everything, all channels, and all recordings?

thanks!

  Loosing EPG daily
Posted by: pcostanza - 2014-02-19, 12:03 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

I noticed a few shows didn't record and then I realized I had no EPG data. So I updated yesterday and saw 14 days of guide info. Today, it's all gone.
Not sure why as I rarely use this system but did install Avast Free last week. No firewall that I can see and I don't see any settings that would affect this.
But we all know I suck at log reading so I've attached them someone to view when they have time.

  Webserver fails to start
Posted by: justhangin - 2014-02-18, 02:31 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Sub,

Im having trouble getting the webserver going. at the end of a lot of searching/debugging i noticed this in NRecord.log

2014-02-17 16:55:59.795 [ERROR][4] Unexpected error starting web server:

The zipped log is included.

What follows are my notes during the debug process. I was trying to answer questions put to other users who had similar problems over the years. I realize that the log entry probably renders the rest of this moot, but just in case any of it is useful, I include it

----------

>Forgive me if I this is too bleedin' obvious, but did you tick it on

Yep, its ticked

>Did you download any EPG data?

Yep, its all there

>Can you connect to the webserver on the local machine using 127.0.0.1:8866?

No. These dont work on the server itself or other lan machines under either chrome or IE

http://127.0.0.1:8866/
http://localhost:8866/
http://192.168.1.10:8866/
http://prophecy64:8866/

however all these incantations work fine for other webservers, e.g.,
Digiguide on 2402. and they all work on the server machine and around my LAN

>try opening firewall settings and add exception for Nrecord.exe, NTray.exe, NDigitalHost.exe and NextPVR.exe

i tried this but im not sure im setting it all correctly. would someone
explain exactly what these rules should look like? I tried making them look
like the Digiguide rules, which obviously work. I also tried with the
firewalls off entirely...no better. Also, i dont understand why the
firewall, regardless of settings, would prevent this from working on the server machine

>Kill the files in the temporary ASP.Net directory....I think that is probably the issue:
>x64: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\npvr

in my case, that dir is empty

>Is npvr under any sub folder within the tree?
>x64: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET

No

>open vlc on the nvpr pc
>open network stream from media menu or ctrl+n
>type in http://localhost:8866/live?channel=1 or the numbers from channel list

It reports this error

Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'http://localhost:8866/live?channel=1'. Check the log for details.

>It's a long shoot but do you have an ipv4 localhost defined in your hosts file?

#<localhost>
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain
255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
::1 localhost
127.0.0.1 local
fe80::1%lo0 localhost
#</localhost>

>I read this whole thread and haven't seen mentioned getting the OS back to a known good state- like formatting and reinstalling the OS

Its a reasonable fresh install...less than a month. no other issues

>web.log would be created for any connect attempt on port 8866. Are you sure you aren't having a firewall issue?

theres no web.log anywhere under C:\Users\Public\NPVR

>Found the problem was with a windows silverlight install... It somehow broke npvrs web server...

no silverlight installed on this machine

>Post your nrecord.log and I'll check it's successfully starting the web server.

done. ahh...ok i see theres a problem here. time to ask you...

  Prevent full drive?
Posted by: ottoguy - 2014-02-18, 01:46 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I setup the PVR to record the Olympics and the inevitable happed last night; the drive filled completely. Is there any setting in npvr to only allow it to fill the drive to say 95%? My OS and recordings are on the same drive so with a full drive windows wasn't responding well.
