  NEWA RESTful API using Swagger
Posted by: theason - 2014-01-27, 03:36 AM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (2)

Ok, I'll admit it. I seem to have gotten stuck drinking MSFT cool-aid for too many years. The transition from SOAP to WCF was pretty reasonable, but this JSON stuff that's all the rage with the cool kids has me a bit mystified. I can fully appreciate you wanting to use this system as a competing standard to WCF because it removes that dependency on MSFT, so please don't take this as a rant against it. I'm willing to work with it Smile

Can somebody help a poor old MSFT guy with your new fancy Swagger documented API? Can I somehow generate all the classes from the API; and make calls to the API with the old school things I am used to, or do I really need to invoke the HTTP methods and make all the calls myself, passing everything correctly. You know, like we used to do with the WSDL generator?

The interwebs is full of people talking about how to use the Swagger system to document code, but nobody seems to have a guide for generating the classes for your client (particularly when it comes to .net clients).

Hint: Maybe the project itself already has the objects I'm looking for and they could be provided Smile

Thanks!

  Black Channels
Posted by: craigrs84 - 2014-01-26, 11:34 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (23)

Just curious I have a handful of channels that I'm able to watch using HDHR's QuickTV app, and I can scan them and add them into NextPVR, but when I try to actually watch them in NextPVR it just shows a black screen and never loads.

Any ideas why? My signal strength is marginal on some of these channels. Does the NextPVR software require a higher signal strength to view channels than QuickTV?

  Screensaver Issue
Posted by: srhutch - 2014-01-26, 09:35 AM - Forum: NextPVR for Samsung - Replies (12)

Had this issue from day one. 95% of the time the Samsung screensaver doesn't not kick in when watching something on NextPVR which is correct.

However sometimes it does, every 5 minutes or so through a program.

This is on a BD-F6500

  Multiple tuners - can NPVR merge duplicate stations?
Posted by: baj1 - 2014-01-26, 02:23 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

This might be a stupid question. I had been using my PVR 2250 for OTA broadcasts, just installed an HDHR Prime with CableCard. All the local stations are available on both devices, is there a way to configure NPVR such that only one listing for the station shows up in the TV Guide and NPVR grabs the appropriate channel off the first available tuner based on priority set in devices tab?

Thanks,
-Brad

  Some channels are not found
Posted by: rogerthat94 - 2014-01-25, 07:26 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

I'm trying to run nextPVR with an AverMedia A188-AF on my PC running Windows 7.

I'm trying to pick up channels from my college's cable TV, but a few channels are missing. I'm able to pick them up fine using a Samsung TV, and I'm sure they are digital channels because they appear in HD.

How can I get nPVR to pick them up? I can only get the Samsung TV to show the virtual channel number. Is there any way I can get it to show the physical number as well?

  2nd tuner not available
Posted by: craigrs84 - 2014-01-25, 05:28 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I am using an HDHomeRun Plus (dual tuner) with NextPVR.

Both tuners are showing under settings in the devices tab. Both tuners are enabled and I'm able to scan channels.

But I am only able to watch or record 1 show at a time. If I try to watch a show while recording another show then I get a message that a tuner is not available.

Also, for similar reasons I am unable to use Picture in Picture. I receive a message "Unable to available capture device"

Any suggestions? I've tested both tuners using the HDHomeRun software and they both seem to be working.

  Samsung UN60F6300 - Hangs when selecting LiveTV
Posted by: Subscap - 2014-01-25, 05:07 PM - Forum: NextPVR for Samsung - Replies (1)

TV: Samsung UN60F6300
NextPVR: Works well on the computer running the npvr server

Connection from the TV app to the NPVR server seems to work since I have the full NPVR menu available when I load the app. However, the app completely hangs when I select the LiveTV option. The only option for me is to then switch sources or reboot the TV.

Also, when the app is first loading it displays the following message "Failed to register device, unknown error."
I assume this has to do with connecting to your portal for log info?

I have tried poking around a little myself. When I turn the debug screen on, then select LiveTV, I noticed the following:

=========================================================
showing message: {"title":"Starting Playback"...etc
selecting mini guide channel: Unknown 74.2
mini guide: start: 0 , selectIndex: 0
refreshing list view
api.getCurrentProgramme:{"Id":7148,"Name":"Unknown 74.2"
Fetching: http://192.XXX.X.XXX:8866/service?method=...etc
loadEpgData completed in: 00:00:00
Error loading epg data: TypeError: Cannot read property 'Name' of undefined
loadEpgData completed in: 00:00:00
Error loading epg data: TypeError: Cannot read property 'Name' of undefined
==========================================================

I'm sure that you would prefer/need a full log, but at first glance it appears to be related to Epg data? I'm going to hunt around on my NPVR server to see if I can luck into a fix while I wait to hear back.

Reven, thank you for your time on this project!! I'm really looking forward to getting this app up and running!

I have a problem with my ASUS PCH3-100 card, I am using an amplified antenna that I am confident should be receiving at least a couple atsc channels. Running Vista SP2 ultimate w/media center installed. I tried initially tried using media center, but I can't get very far, it crashes, but probably because I disabled a bunch of the services because I don't want it downloading programming data. So then, I tried using the software that came with the card - ArcSoft Total Media 3.5, and it will scan channels, and I can tell some of them are getting really good signal, but all I ever saw was black, it never locked and always reported 0 channels. I came to nextpvr since I thought maybe I could get some good debug data, so I just installed it and tried scanning, and I get nothing. Two ATSC tuners are listed, one with MCE in the title and one without MCE. Both scan empty. Logs attached, but here's one of the scan results:

2014-01-25 06:25:54.515 [DEBUG][1] Frequency has changed, so stopping recording from previous frequency. (Handle 40)
2014-01-25 06:25:54.534 [DEBUG][1] whoosh whoosh

<tuning>
<type>ATSC</type>
<locator>
<physical_channel>43</physical_channel>
</locator>
</tuning>

Isn't that good enough quality to get a lock?

I should also mention that hooking the card up to cable and doing a search on the Clear QAM, I was able to get channels using the TotalMedia software but they were all locked except for one that promotes Xfinity, and I was able to see both video and audio on that channel. But again, that was on cable, on a different physical hookup on the card.

Thanks in advance for the help!

  Support for new transcoding Silicondust HDHomeRun Plus (HDTC-2US)
Posted by: 4jb - 2014-01-25, 03:09 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (55)

I know it may still be a bit early, but I have received Silicondust's newest HDHomeRun transcoding device (HDTC-2US).

NextPVR is working with the unit, but it is just in the native MPEG2 (.ts) format.

I was wondering if there were any active plans on updating NextPVR to support the built-in transcoding from the HDHomeRun.

Thanks!
