  Download icon
Posted by: spinnaker - 2013-10-21, 01:03 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (14)

Is anyone else seeing the Download icon at the top of the forum pages?

This seems to be appearing on the download thread and already bite me once after a late night install. I am seeing this image more and more over the internet and appears to be coming from Google. It is very misleading and it is disgusting that Google would want this kind of business.

Is there anyway to block this ad on the forum

Sad

In the space of a few minutes this lovely system has malfunctioned to the point of having me exhaust all the troubleshooting techniques at my disposal

Blank HD channels

These are the current settings for decoders

Unable to communicate with recording service

Unhandled exceptions- I have allowed NPVR in Norton

I am attaching logs for someone to hopefully scrutinise and provide some tips

I installed last week's updated version- prior to that it was flawless

  Audio with Colossus issue
Posted by: i3c - 2013-10-20, 06:27 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (18)

First of all, congratulations on 3.1.1. I'm really enjoying it!

One issue I have though (and I think this was the same in the previous version) is that sometimes when I view a channel it will start with no audio. Sometimes I will hear a few stuttery sounds then nothing. If I right-click and manually select the audio stream it comes back. Which is an ok workaround for live-tv watching but for scheduled recordings no audio is recorded about half the time.

This is with Hauppauge Colossus, SPDIF, Hauppauge, Hauppauge AC-3 decoder.

Is there something I can do to get audio to reliably record?

  null.ts recordings
Posted by: agerdin - 2013-10-20, 05:52 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I am having problems with the NPVR having the recording device starting to record several null.ts sessions. Not really sure how to describe it. See attached screenshots and logs.

I have never had this problem prior to 3.1.1

NEWA Logon not working (to change) themes etc after 3.1.1
Posted by: jksmurf - 2013-10-20, 05:30 AM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (11)

I use the classic NEWA guide http://smurfpc:8866/guide.aspx not the guide2 version.

I get to the guide, but when I go to logon, it now (after 311) just offers user name and pwd and goes no further?

  3.1.1 not recording after rebuild/upgrade
Posted by: baj1 - 2013-10-20, 01:35 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I was rebuilding my HTPC system with a clean install on an SSD OS partition and figured I'd put 3.1.1 on in the process. My 2.6.2 was working reasonably well before this. After going through the install 3.1.1 started right up. I shut it down and stopped the recording service. Then I copied EPG and Script folders from my old HDD (2.6.2 install) along with the NPVR.db3 to c:\users\public\npvr. I rebooted and started NPVR and was happy to find all the EPG, recordings and most importantly channel-mapping intact. I fiddled with the decoders to get Live TV and video playback working (my NPVR box is connected to my TV in my entertainment center).

I then installed MVPMCEX2 and got my NMTs working. All appeared well until I tried to do a quick-record of the Gopher hockey game. It turned red in the EPG, but did not start recording (icon in the tool tray wasn't red, and no files in the recordings folder). I applied all patches, rebooted, still no recording.

Logs attached. Please let me know if you see anything in there.

Thanks,
-Brad

npvr.db3 corrupted, can it be repaired?
Posted by: NigelG - 2013-10-19, 05:52 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I was having problems with one of my DVB-T receivers today and rebooted the machine a number of times to de-install and reinstall the H/W.

Having got the DVB-T tuner working again I seem to have corrupted the NPVR.db3 database... The NPVR Recording Service will not start. If I rename the file I can start the NPVR Recording Service, as a new NPVR.db3 is created.

Having lost the old database I am missing all the timers and .5TB of recordings :-(

Is it possible to identify and fix the old database? It's about 8MB in size. I was able to open on a trial version of a repair application but didn't identify any issues or allow me to 'resave' the file...

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Nigel

  User Defined Categories

Is there a way to assign categories to my recordings, so I could have only my wife's shows displayed in one list, and my shows displayed in another?
Thanx!

  Recommendations regarding new nPVR Server
Posted by: forzaKGB - 2013-10-19, 07:49 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (7)

Hi

I have not used nPVR extensively for 1½ years since we switched cable provider and the new provider used Cryptoguard which you cannot cardshare/cardsplit. Now we are switching again and I will once more be able to use a wireless cardsplitter. In this process I am also thining of replacing my 7 year old PVR Server (old DELL Desktop) in order to have a smaller and more energy efficient system.

It was a long time ago I built my own PCConfused and I am not up-to-date with the current processor families, graphic cards (which in my view shouldn't really matter since this computer will be without screen and will only be nPVR and Plex server) etc.

Is an i5 sufficient or should I go with a low power i7 or perhaps an AMD would be a better fit?
Recordings will be done over the network to my QNAP TS-412 so no need for massive storage locally, planning to use a SSD as system drive.

Have two Floppy-DTV TV-cards right now, since they are FireWire that is a plus but I have a PCI FireWire-card so as long as motherboard have at least one PCI/PCI-X slot I'm fine.

Energy efficiency with enough performance (with some headroom) is my main focus.

I do not have to build it myself either, a finished product would also be fine as long as I can get FireWire working.
Planning to install Windows 2012 R2 on the system, could also go with Windows 8.1 if server OS cause problems.

Low price would be nice but the performance need to be sufficient and lower power consumption might save more money than low price.

Anyone have suggestions?

  3.1.1 problems...
Posted by: blegdon - 2013-10-19, 05:07 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (15)

Prior to upgrading to 3.11, I had a very stable and nicely working system, now that I upgraded to 3.1.1, I am having all kinds of random lockups, slow motion playbacks and my EPG not parsing properly.(it locks up on the updating recording schedule screen) I have a very basic system with one Happague tuner in SD, and rather than burden you with trying to figure out all the reasons I am having these multiple problems, I would just like to know how to back out of 3.11 and so i can re-install 2,6,2 and keep my database of shows and not need to set up my tuner again...

I tried using the uninstall program in the c:\program files\npvr folder and what happens is after the uninstall completes, then i try to re install 2.6.2, and , when the installer is running and gets to NPVR.EXE I get a system crash (it just occurred to me, as I am posting this,....do i need to reboot after the uninstall of 3.1.1 is complete, before I install the older version??) and if i try to run npvr, the system will crash.

I am sure 3.11 is a very good upgrade, but for my simple setup, running an older NTSC non HD system.. sadly it did more harm than good.

Windows 7 pro
Intel E440 dual processor @ 2 gig
1 gig ram (please stop laughing...i know ...I know)
Nvidia geoforce 210

any help would be greatly appreciated Smile
thanks
