IR Blaster for 2 Hauppauge HD PVR / Colossus units
Posted by: jghanisco - 2013-10-19, 05:04 AM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

I am running Windows 8 on my NPVR server, and have an HD PVR and a Colossus connected to my computer, which are fed by 2 HD boxes. As hauppauge only allows one device to utilize it's IR Blaster, I've decided to use the Colossus blaster, and tried to find other options for the second unit. I have an MCE remote & IR receiver / blaster, but it does not work on Windows 8. I've read about other people having the same issue as myself, and there has never been a fix that I can find. I've since decided to use the HD PVR as a fixed unit. It has one channel feeding it, and I manually update this one channel and replace the previous channel in the device settings field, but this is a pain. Especially when I forget to change the channel on the HD Receiver. My HD Boxes do not have firewire, so I don't have that ability.

So the questions. Does anybody out there have success with an IR blaster still available? USB-UIRT is $50, so not a cost friendly way to go, and there doesn't appear to be much available.

Is it possible to run a windows xp virtual machine on my windows 8 machine? The MCE blaster works with XP, so that would be my fallback.

Thanks.

  New web service clarification needed
Posted by: bgowland - 2013-10-19, 12:37 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (6)

A few questions...

Do all of the new web api calls work as follows...

Code:
http://<server>:<port>/services?<whatever>

What is the difference between client= and sid=? I'm guessing client is a device type and sid is session id. Correct? If so does client have to be a device type with a unique identifier in order to distinguish it from other devices of the same type or is that handled by the sid to make sure the session is unique.

Is it possible to transfer a clone (or impersonate) a web api call? For example, if I build Google Cast ability into nDroid and make a web service request from my tablet, could I then pass it on to my Chromecast with the same session id which then makes a repeat request and gets the same response?

On a lesser note - the future of using JSON? Parsing large amounts of XML with Android devices (mostly older ones) is a PITA due to memory available - JSON is generally more efficient.

Cheers,
Brian

  Newbie setup
Posted by: SavellM - 2013-10-18, 07:07 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

Hey Guys,

So first time with NextPVR and need a bit of help.
So I have scanned the channels for UK Freeview 28.2 and groovy.
I have 350 channels.

But a few things, I have multiple channels for instance Channel 4 shows about 6 times and so does ITV and many others.
Is there a easy way to remove all the extras?

2ndly is there some nice sorting software to get all the channels to show more like sky.
As in BBC 1 first
then BBC HD
BBC 2
ITV
E4

and so on, so that its not like some random unheard of channel first.

Thanks guys Smile

  recordings not starting when scheduled
Posted by: securitnick - 2013-10-18, 11:06 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (15)

I'm having a problem recording, but I'm not running VM Ware or any virtual machine. I'm running straight Windows 7 Pro 64bit. Using XBMC with NPVR as the PVR backend. I have an OTA antenna pulling in whatever channels it gets, and as far as live viewing, everything works great. I have the EPG working with an XML file that pulls data from (I think) where Windows Media Center actually gets it's EPG data (not pulling from WMC, but from the source it uses). When I attempt to record anything, whether it's a future program scheduled or even the program I'm currently watching (and this happens either in XBMC or in the NPVR client), a timer is created and looks right, but it just never actually records. In fact when it gets to the time for the recording (and after the time), it says, "next recording is..." whatever that timer was. So it's almost like something is just hanging up and the service doesn't realize it's the right time to record or something. I am fairly sure all my settings are correct, I've checked it over many times. I even played around with changing the recording directory to see if that was somehow the problem, but it still didn't work. I doubt this makes a difference, but I do have Windows and NPVR installed on a SSD drive and I have another larger hard drive that i'm using for storage. Any help would be great. I really like NPVR especially since I finally got my local channels and EPG working well with it.

  Timing issue?
Posted by: haverer2 - 2013-10-18, 07:28 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (2)

Hi all,
Different setup than posts I've put on recently.
I am using a PCTV 460e Satellite USB tuner. NextPVR sits on that machine.
I assess that from XBMC on a separate machine elsewhere on the network.

When I change channels it thinks about it, then times out. If I try to play the channel again it will 'usually' work.
Is there some sort of timing error which is not releasing the tuner or something?

I've attached my logs if useful.
Thanks,
John

Audio progressively more out of sync.
Posted by: cyclonegt68 - 2013-10-18, 04:35 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (26)

Hi All,

For a few weeks now, all my recordings start out with the audio and video in sync, but the longer you watch, the more out of sync the audio is. For instance, in a one hour show, by the time you have watched for an hour, they are 3.5 seconds out of sync.

I did the 3.1 update, and that had no improvement. Tried different decoders to no avail.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

  Can't record with recurring option
Posted by: Cain - 2013-10-18, 12:02 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

I can't seem to get the recurring option to work when recording. If I select one time only then it works. I had it set up to record before but cancelled it so I could change the end time padding since the show likes to go over it's time slot. Anyway it doesn't seem to work any more. I tried with some other series, some work and others do not. It doesn't matter if I use the web interface or the desktop app. I looked for some log files but didn't see any so I must not have looked in the right place.

the name of that tuner sharing software which created virtual tuners backed by real capturecards and could be shared over network? What was the download site? Shiek Yerbouti?

  Migration to 3.1.1 problem
Posted by: Chapon - 2013-10-17, 08:14 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (59)

Hi!

I had a perfectly functional setup, version 2.5. In 3.1.1, selecting a channel for live tv correctly changed the channel via the blaster, but my HPDVR did not power on.

Thank you

  ffdesca.dll in the installer
Posted by: agerdin - 2013-10-17, 07:35 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

sub, why is not the file ffdesca.dll part of the installation? The times I do a clean install I always end up trying to figure out why the MDPlugin is not working and I always find myself adding this file.
