  Hauppauge HD-PVR / HD-PVR2 (01212 and 01512) anyone using them?
Posted by: SFX Group - 2013-10-23, 03:34 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

Hi

I am looking at either the HD-PVR (01212 with IR Blaster cable) or the version 2 (HD-PVR 01512), is anyone using these? I have a few questions.....

- HD-PVR (01212), says it comes with an IR Cable, so when i add this to NPVR (Hauppauge says its supported), if NPVR uses this will it change the channel and how would i set that up? (never used an IR Blaster), i am looking at this device as it has an IR Blaster built in so is a one stop solution (encoding and channel changing).

- HD-PVR2 (01512), doesn't say its compatible with NPVR, however doesn't look like i will get any benefit as the HDMI needs to have the HDCP stripped (which i am not sure my set top box does yet). However is anyone using this box (if so do you have the IR blaster working)?

- HD-PVR2 (01512) does the "record button" work on this for NPVR (i assume not)?

  LiveTV Buffer not clearing when stopping playback
Posted by: Speeko - 2013-10-23, 03:12 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (26)

I have a problem where the LiveTV buffer will keep recording, long after playback has been stopped in XBMC, or the program has been closed.
It also does not appear to have any limit, it will keep generating files with the suffix "-1", "-2". I've seen it get as far as "-6" without clearing.

This is a major issue as I only have a small hard drive and it is quickly filled.

For the moment I am manually stopping the NPVR service, clearing the LiveTV buffer, then restarting the service.

I noticed in a previous patch for an old version, nshared.dll was updated to fix this.

Help!

Thanks

Posted by: SFX Group - 2013-10-23, 12:41 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Hi

I have installed the latest version, ive not really checked this before, however....

I have 3 screens, i cant seem to get NPVR to "save" its last location, the "Start on secondary monitor" is nice, however i have 3 screens (all seen in Windows 7 display panel) so is this confusing NPVR?

  Remote recording via Raspberry Pi???
Posted by: SFX Group - 2013-10-22, 11:52 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Hi

I did look in to this over a year ago when i was trying to decide what hardware to do (back then it was a slave path i think or remote video input, or something like that)...

However i now have Raspberry Pi hardware at the TV running openELEC (very nice) i have the NPVR PVR plug in so it does see the server, however since i moved i now have satellite and nothing at the "server".

The NPVR server has done nothing in the past 1-1.5 years (still at version 2.something), the decoder box is at the TV where the Raspberry Pi is, so with this in mind...

I am looking for a way to get the video from here (USB device) that i can get in to Linux then have NPVR some how use this as a slave input.

So i can either use the local RPi to say "record" and this spits it back to NPVR (as NPVR is the "PVR") or have NPVR do this using something at the local Raspberry Pi.

I know these small boxes dont have alot of processing power so if i need another one then thats fine (there cheap enough).

I would like to help and ideas.

  Network adapter problems
Posted by: pcostanza - 2013-10-22, 06:21 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (9)

This problem has nothing to do with NPVR but I'm stumped (I hear the laughing!)
My ISP told me a very old email account (we don't use) was hacked and sending out spam so they blocked my account. They know its not me because the same thing happened to dozen of old, unused email addresses. I deleted that email address and they cleared my account. Just hours later, one of my systems can't connect to the internet or the network. I tried other cables, other ports in the router, release and renew and a few other things and while it pops that it's connected every now and then, it's only for a second or two.
I was thinking it was my onboard NIC but I did a ping 127.0.0.1 and it came back fine and ipconfig /all shows an IP address for that adaptor. So, how can I tell if it's the NIC?

I have no external NIC's to try nor space to add one but I may just get a cheap, USB Ethernet Adaptor and try it out but I was curious if the hardware brains here had any ideas. Not that it matters but this box is 3 1/2 years old and is on and connected almost 18 hours a day.

  3.1.1 problem watching live TV on client (Unexpected error calling StartStream())
Posted by: fredcooper - 2013-10-22, 06:16 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

Updated to NextPVR 3.1.1 on a client laptop a few hours ago. Now, when attempting to watch live TV on the client from the TV guide, the following error message is displayed: "Unable to communicate with recording service." The older version of NextPVR on the server does permit watching live TV from the TV guide. See the attached log for more information about the error. What is the fix?

  CableCard Tuner on Windows 8 without MediaCenter
Posted by: ElihuRozen - 2013-10-22, 05:57 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

I bought a new system to replace my old server. It came with Windows 8 Home. Can I use a CableCard Tuner (Ceton InfiniTV 4) without spending $100 for the Pro Pack that includes Media Center? If not, I might take the Windows 7 Retail license from the old system & install that on the new system & put Windows XP back on the old system. My understanding is I can activate the Windows 7 license on the new system & that will deactivate it on the old system.

  Absolute newbie trying to realize an idea - where to start?
Posted by: Oopsjoppe - 2013-10-22, 02:05 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (13)

First of all I think that NPVR is a fantastic software and has supplied me with livetv and entertainment in a very stasifying way!

I am using a NPVR backend server with softcam etc providing livetv to all my RaspberryPIConfused, laptops etc but I dont have it on my ipad or my iphone. I would like this to work both on the local network and through VPN in any other place basically.

My idea from the beginning is very simple. I want to have a responsive site (iOS adapted) just parsing xml from http api (method=channel.list). That is the easy part. But what I also want to do is to have 2-3 different "view live" transcoding options mapped to each channel found. I would like to have them preset so I can just choose depending on the speed of the network I am currently on. Then I would just make a link to the iOS VLC player with vlc://http://host:port etc etc which then opens the stream in the VLC app.

I have already tried the first option which is to use NPVR native output, like "view live" in NEWA, which is very simple with the live?channel=x option but how can I proceed with transcoding options? I guess there is no way to send transcoding arguments in the url? How does the channel=x stuff work? How does VLC understand what to stream and how can I adapt it?

----
As a sidenote I would very much like to start understand the code in NPVR in order to do more advanced stuff in the future but I have no application programming experience, except for web, at all. So what developing environments are you using? What is the software I need to start digging in the code? I have looked through most of the code with some simple text/web editor but I dont understand how it is working together. I can't even see any http API calls in any of the plugins? And yes, I have read the sticky thread about "where to start with plugins" but I didn't get any brighter unfortunately Smile I'm sure you think I'm a lost cause but I would appreciate any help very much! Thanks

  3.1.1 and irremote.ini for hauppauge
Posted by: kylebrophy - 2013-10-22, 08:19 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (16)

Hi Guys,

Im sure this is something to do with the changeover to .net 4.0 - I use the irremote.ini commands for my Hauppauge remote - and it has been working marvellously until the upgrade to 3.1.1...

I suspect its just a matter of someone letting me know what the new app codes would be - as the ones below don't do anything anymore.
Ive only added a few lines - as its the app name that will have changed, so should just be a matter of find/replace.

[Default]
GRNPOWER={run(C:\Progra~2\NPVR\NextPVR.exe)}
0={findwnd(WindowsForms10.Window.8.app.0.33c0d9d,,)}{SendMsg(32775,48,0)}
1={findwnd(WindowsForms10.Window.8.app.0.33c0d9d,,)}{SendMsg(32775,49,0)}
2={findwnd(WindowsForms10.Window.8.app.0.33c0d9d,,)}{SendMsg(32775,50,0)}

Thanks in Advance

  3.1.1 and MDAPI
Posted by: mikaelgu - 2013-10-22, 08:02 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

Hi,

Anyone else experiencing trouble when recording encrypted channels on 3.1.1? I've had 4 recordings now and they've all been cut short. This happened occasionally on 2.6.2 also, but on 3.1.1 I've had a failure rate of 100%. I'm using Acamd and a phoenix card reader.

Mikael
