Anyone know of a free MPEG2 codec with cc-out I can get anywhere? The default Windows MPEG2 codec is the only one I can get to show video on my system but it has no closed captioning. I installed ffdshow and dragged some dlls over from vlc which gave me a very few new decoders to choose from but none of them work at all, at least for Live TV picture.
I did search around and found that MainConcept (HCW) MPEG-2 Video Decoder seems to work for people but can't find a good source without having to pony up $50 for a whole bundle of stuff I don't want. I can't find a free alternative.
How/when does NPVR use H.264 instead of MPEG2? If I can't get an MPEG2 codec that meets my needs, how do I use H.264 instead? I seem to have the MainConcept H.264 Video Decoder from somewhere (not sure where) but NPVR refuses to use anything other than MPEG2 on my system.
I have Win 7 Home Premium with an ATI TV Wonder HD-600 USB tuner.
I started having the strangest problem over the past 2 weeks with my recordings on Time Warner Cables CBS broadcasts. All of a sudden all of my recordings of CBS Clear QAM channel (Channel 3) in Raleigh, NC are sort of choppy with some motion blur, as if I can no longer record the full frame rate that is being broadcast. I have two different NextPVR DVR computers, one running Windows XP and the other running Windows 7, and they both are showing the same issues with the playback and watching of live TV for this channel. All other recordings for all other channels are still perfect. Prior to this, I have never seen any issues like this on any of my recorded channels or TV shows. Nothing has changed on either of my DVR computers during this time period. I have even tried setting the BitRate to 13500000 for all possible types of broadcasts (Analog, 720P, and 1080i) in config.xml and still no resolution to this issue.
Anyone have any idea what might be going on, or has anyone else experienced anything similar in the past, especially here in the US with Time Warner Cable Clear QAM broadcasts?
In the <WebServer> element of config.xml there are <TranscodeExe> and <TranscodeArgs> for streaming. Would it be possible to have separate transcode 'profile' xml files and have the /transcode url accept a profile name?
Something like http://<ip-address>:<port>/transcode?recording=1234&profile=transprof-1.xml
I'm thinking each profile xml would have the <TranscodeExe> and <TranscodeArgs> elements. If the &profile= parameter wasn't passed in the url then the web server would default to using the config.xml settings.
I have shows with sub-titles, but I'll be damned if I can see where the sub-title is stored, given that the scheduled_recordings table does not have a sub-title column.

I tried to work it out for myself but I am clearly going mad. Where is it please!
I have the current version of NextPVR running on a windows 7 box, and just read about this NEWA interface (via trying to install the SearchLite plugin), and whenever I enter the URL into my web browser (http://localhost:8866) or even the link to the guide at http://localhost:8866/guide2.aspx, I get this back:

Perhaps the reaon I am not seeing it is because I have yet to get any channels to work but is there on screen navigation while watching TV? The popup menu is far to small to work with from a distance. WMC has controls that appear right on the screen when you move the mouse. There are buttons to pause, go forward, back etc. I relize I could use a remote but I would rather use a keyboard.
Also is there a full screen mode that I am not seeing that does not display the title and task bar?
I just installed NPVR. I have a Haudpauge tuner with dual channels that I am using OTA. The tuners are being detected and I ran a scan of channels but the channels are distant stations in the nearby area. No stations are being detected that are close to me. And so far I have not found a station tha works.
How do I get my local stations?
Missing are channels 2,4,11,22 and 53 and their sub channels. All of these channels work in WMC. Channel 13 shows in the guide but does not appear to work. Channel 13 works fine in WMC
Also there are at least 3 stations in the area called Me. It is a sub channel of other stations. How do I know which Me station is listed in the Guide. And is there any way to show the stationl channel and sub channel number of the station?
