  Colossus, unable to select SPDIF.
Posted by: bigstusexy - 2013-01-14, 03:18 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

Hello,

I upgraded to 2.5.9 a few weeks ago and I've noticed that all my colossus recordings are bad. Bad frame rate and no audio. So I decided to check live view today and it plays like it records. I then checked the input via ShowBiz and it was fine.

When I went to check the device settings I see that it is on RCA, I went to change it to SPDIF and hit okay and okay. I checked in settings and it was back to RCA. I tried setting it again and restarting the service but no dice.

Select audio track on recorded shows?
Posted by: ottoguy - 2013-01-14, 03:11 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Is there a way to select the audio track on recorded shows? I have an HDhomerun Prime, and some channels have started putting audio track 1 as Tonga (Tonga Island) ( per VLC). So if I use VLC I can select the 2nd audio track (english) and the file places fine. However in NextPVR I can't find a way to make it change to the 2nd audio track. I have no clue why the english track isn't first, and I'm guessing I will need to call Verizon to see if they have a reason. It only happens on some channels, but it makes the shows unwatchable on nextpvr since I have no audio. I have tried different AC3 decoders, but haven't found an option yet to set the track to prefer english.

  Network Folder and mapped drives
Posted by: saitoh183 - 2013-01-13, 10:56 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

I was trying to set the LiveTV buffer folder and recording folder to a mapped drive (my media server) and NPVR doesnt seems to like it... When i start live tv, i get a black screen but status says its storing buffer file in mapped drive location...same for recording. When i check the network location, nothing is there. Can network locations not be used ?

Cannot connect to recording service - DirectX?
Posted by: thewhitefriar - 2013-01-13, 02:25 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

Hi,

I decided to add a "server" to my NPVR set up, which still using the old machine as a front end.

I've configured the shares on the server, and changed the settings on the client to point to the server.

I have no video on the server and the client (although it runs the EPG ok) says it cannot communicate with the recording server. Firewall open for NRecord on server and client.

I believe this relates to the below the error I get in NPVR re.the DirectX runtime not being present, however dxdiag works fine (results attached). None of the DirectX installers will run without error (web or full version) so I have stuck. Both DirectX log files are attached.

Any advice? I'm stuck.

Thanks :S

  Jukebox mode
Posted by: fuzzweed - 2013-01-13, 10:49 AM - Forum: nDroid - Replies (9)

Low priority feature request...
How feasible would it be to add a random all / jukebox button to the music playback options.
I use Musicbox 4 plugin on the PCs for the same thing, so don't know if you could piggyback off that somehow???

xbmc key mappings and volume control
Posted by: fuzzweed - 2013-01-13, 10:41 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (2)

As an XBMC noob, I'm going to ask this here as the NPVR forums seem a little bit more friendly than the XBMC ones....
I'm trialing XBMC as a client forr NPVR and I've got two problems regarding key mapping.
1) ESC is 'back' on NPVR, but seems to operate as Alt+F4 on XBMC. Is there any way to change the XMBC key mapping to remove this function as I'm sooo fed up of accidentally killing the program everytime I try to back out of a menu!

2) I can't get the MCE volume buttons to alter the output volume on the PC while running XBMC. I'm using the optical output from my sound card, and the volume control while using NPVR alters the 'Device SPDIF pass through' slider in Windows. However I've tried all the audio options in XBMC and I can only get the volume control to be XBMC 'internal' volume, not the device volume.

Why is EPG dowloading times from 2012?
Posted by: mediamad - 2013-01-13, 06:31 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (27)

I just set up the EPG service and see the guide all says "no show details". I took a look at the TVGuide.xml & I guessing the first line stop/start represents show timing. It looks like they are all from dec 2012? What's causing this? System clock is set correct. WMC shows guide properly. Thx, Tim

  Colossus, Directv, and HDMI
Posted by: dvasco - 2013-01-12, 08:58 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Is there anyone that is using a Colossus with the Directv HDMI output? The signal is seriously degraded for me using it this way. It's worse than svideo. The video is the same with WinTV v7 so I know it isn't a NPVR caused problem. I have all of the other outputs disconnected from the Directv receiver and I have tried all of the resolutions available in the receiver. I know it isn't the cable because when I use the same cable to connect the receiver directly to the TV the video is outstanding.

  MVP and NextPVR restrictions
Posted by: McBainUK - 2013-01-12, 06:17 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (13)

I'm having a bit of a January clearance (like many others I guess), and trying to decide if I should keep my Hauppauge MVP which I bought from these very forums many years ago.

I'm looking through some old threads and trying to find out the restirctions.

sub Wrote:The MVP is an old device, and only capable of playing standard definition video. Its only really well suited to old-school analog recording.

That said, if you set <TranscodeTsForMVP> to true, and have a fast server, then you might get lucky, but will have to watch every recording from beginning, with no ability to skip around in the file.
It's this still true? MVP and NextPVR:
- has no Live TV
- recordings can work but only with transcode and no resume or skip
- limited format playback options (eg only mpg, no AVI, Mp4 etc).

If that's the case, it's really only good for TV guide scheduling, recordings management, and an MP3 music player....

Blank Screen, Buffering, Not Changing Channels
Posted by: Adiventure - 2013-01-12, 09:01 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (14)

Sorry if I leave out something important, this is my first time doing this.

I've got NPVR setup with XBMC Frodo RC3 and Ceton ifinitv tuner, running Windows 7 64.

I seem to be having a couple of different problems playing live TV. In NPVR I seem able to navigate to a channel, it will play ten seconds of audio and then cut out. In XBMC I seem to intermittently get channels, sometimes have it freeze and say buffering (with either no or minimal progress over hours), and sometimes not get video. While the video has been working I have been unable to pause. I assume user error is to blame, but I thought I had read all the guides and set everything up appropriately.

I seemed to be able to get short video in NPVR by changing the decoder settings, but it was still stopping after a few seconds and I didn't really know what I was doing.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. I really hope to be able to get this sorted out since I'd love to watch the Pats on this setup.

PS,
I have another, substantially longer XBMC log file, but I am unable to compress it down to size (it only gets to 2.something) and if I split it I can no longer upload it. I don't know if it would be useful, or how you would like to access it.
