I've got a small problem... I'm trying to use mc2xml to generate an EPG for nPVR, but the information it pulls from Microsoft doesn't match the channel lineup that nPVR has listed.
I live in 75206, and nPVR shows channel 4 as being KERA (which it is... if I watch it it's definitely KERA). The XML generated by mc2xml says that channel 4 is WFAA.
I'm just using a simple over-the-air antenna that worked fairly flawlessly with Windows Media Center in the past, so I'm not sure why there's a divergence of data. Any insights?
I only use my nPVR machine for watching movies from the server so I have no tuner device installed (I use a Rosewill RCC-126 USB receiver with MCE remote to move around in nPVR). Since I have some basic channels on my TV from my antenna, could I still setup nPVR to still show me info for those channels or does it require a tuner device? I poked around in the settings and it looks like I couldn't do anything unless I had some device installed.
even though i have allowed NextPVR.exe and NRecord.exe through the default win8 firewall, i cannot get npvr to tune without fully disabling the firewall. has anyone else out there had this issue? does anyone have any advice of what could be the issue? are there additional firewall rules i need to create?
I am in the process of finally upgrading my main machine at home. In addition to new hardware, I have taken the plunge to move on to Win 8. This is a mixed experience in general.
I have also moved my NPVR installation including 2 Hauppauge HVR 5500, or at least I have tried. When scanning for channels on Astra 28.2 as satellite B, diseqc switching does not work. It's still scanning on satellite A. All has been working fine on XP SP3 until now, but I would really love to have Freesat back....
opening "unlocker" it shows i have about 15 access from NRecord on the db, around 8 for NDigitalHost and thats it. no webserver or anything (I stopped IIS a few days ago as I thought this was causing the issue).
its just a stupid database, which locks itself if theres a journal open, if one thing tries to write to the database and then that process craps out and doesnt close it off, then the db is locked and you have to kill all processes to release it.

using sqlce or localdb or something that doesnt need the user to install anything, but is still a more real database and can handle multiple connections correctly.
I'm completely new to nPVR - completed a fresh install today. I've been running MediaPortal, but have been very frustrated with some aspects ot it.
Everything went well with the install, but I'm getting the above message.
The logs (attached) indicate:

The service is running ok, I have tried restarting it but no effect. I read it may be a firewall issue, but even completely disabling the firewall had no effect. I am currently running as a stand-alone install.
I'm not sure where to go from here. Channel scan seems to work ok, EPG seems to work ok (although I emptied it again to see if that was causing the issue).
I find myself with some (rare) free time, so I thought I'd play around with a bit of development and look at trying to knock together a simple movies trailers plugin. On the absence of suggestions for a better place to grab trailers, I was looking at the Apple iTunes rss feed here: http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/home/...t_720p.xml
Although this has links to the video files, Apple won't let you direct download them unless it thinks you're coming from QuickTime. So doing this, for example, won't work:
Is there any way you could make such functionality available via the NPVR API? It would be much nicer to have the videos stream on the fly rather than have to download them first.
So trying to get into nPVR slowly. Essentially, have a VERY old analog usb capture card. usbav-190 by abs technologies (who seem to have recently shut down making drivers that much more fun to find).
So long story short -- followed the process to add my analog decide. nPVR detects it. Set it up. Added channels as composite input. And no matter what, I get "unable to find available capture device."
I was able to capture audio and video into windows using a different program no problem. It even shows as a capture device under my computer (windows xp). THere is a red light on the box that turns when its in use. nPVR has not been able to turn it on.
