Thats the best title I could come up with for what I am wishing for.
Most people want to fully switch, well I don't because of the investment.
This might be more geared toward a plugin for each Piece of software
I have a STV DVR with 4 extenders (one is at a friends house and he uses the placeshifting feature of one extender) that works pretty good.
I have NPVR installed on the same box and I am working out the Kinks here and there.
I have 2 boxes I am going to
STV is using a few tuners and NPVR is as well.
What I am looking for is something that would allow me to use STV to browse the NPVR Live TV and stream/watch it live, as well as have NPVR do the same.
Both Apps offer web streaming. Both use local file directorys as well as network shares, and both have databases. There is and ODBC Driver for the SQLITE V3 DB that could be used.
Ok, late to the party. I have been playing with NPVR on the side but only just swapped over my primary machine from GBPVR. (gbpvr worked so well I didn't want to touch it)
Started a few days ago running 2.5.5 and just updated to 2.5.9 and see the same issue with both where the windows screensaver (xp 32bit) kicks in over NPVR. Both in menus and playback. I am sure I have seen this discussed before after searching the forum I can't find any reference.
I would appreciate it if anyone can point me in the right direction. Cheers!
My tv-guide in Newa is not the same as in NPVR. I've merged some channels and changed some channel numbers. But NEWA does not update, is there a way to purge tv-guide and reload ?
I would love some clarification here. I have absolutely no idea at all what is going on with xbmc support with NextPVR? The forum now has a whole section dedicated to it that has sprung up. I am so pleased that you all find it so easy to follow. I am a thicko and I do not find it easy. I am sure I am the only person in the world that does not get it...
But if any of you may even slightly not get it, or get all of it, could you help to enlighten me!
Then we may be able to write something on the NextPVR wiki....
I'm curious if there is any discussion among the devs to have a "PVR Backend Only" version?
Since XBMC has all the other functions (music, photos, etc) and only needs a good PVR backend, it would be great to see a "Lite" version of NextPVR that only has 1 function... PVR.
I've done a bit of looking, but there is a good chance I missed the answers to the question I have. If so, please just point me in the right direction. I am using NPVR with the XBMC addon and NEWA. I am not using the NPVR GUI.
1. How do it set up a favorite or season pass to a specific series? I think I've figured it out in NEWA, but how does one do it in XBMC?
2. In XBMC searches in "Live TV" always result in no results? Is this an add-on or XBMC issue? Can anyone get results from this search?
3. I've setup a recurring recording in NEWA. How do I manage these in XBMC?
4. How do I disable or hide channels in the NEWA guide?
Since one of the last versions the delete button on the PCH-remote does not work anymore to delete a recording. I hoped it would magically repair in a new version, but the new NPVR-version (1 Oct) does not fix it. Can I fix it myself, or did it disappear because of a bug? In any case, the delete on a regular keyboard does not delete recordings anymore either (as it did before).
Having a fresh installation of Windows 7 x64 I wanted to ditch SageTV and use NextPVR. Installed the new version 2.5.9 I cannot do any channel scan, I get this:
Code:
"Unable to start device: Device failed to start"
Trying to scan "19.2 ASTRA (deutsch) (19.2E)
I have two identical TT-connect S-2400 USB devices and I know that they worked in a former version before while testing parallel to SageTV.
I did a test with MCE and it worked, so TV tuners should work.
Attached the logs.
Any idea?
Best regards,
Oliver
Edit: Same problem with fresh 2.5.5 R1 installation.
Edit2: MCE and TT-Viewer do work and show current tv shows.
I tried using this plugin, and, after resolving the "No PVR has been started" issue, I got it working with HD Homerun Prime! However, XBMC process uses about 80%-90% of the CPU. I have a Core 2 Duo E8400 - it's an older processor, but still performs like a champ. To compare, when I watch TV with MCE, CPU usage hovers around 10-20% at most. Is this what everyone else is experiencing? I realize this plugin is a work in progress, and I'm very excited to see XBMC PVR finally work with a cablecard tuner, but I was just curious if high CPU usage is something that's particular to my configuration. My hopes of running it on Atom330/ION look pretty bleak right now
I have about 200 channels from satelitte and about 100 from cable, many of them are the same.
Thanks to the great feature to auto merge channels with same name my list became much better to work with.
But I have many channels that are given the same number, but are different channels, ex:
22 BBC HD (dvb-s2)
22 History Channel HD (dvb-c)
Maybe nextpvr can handle this on it's own, but xbmc plugin doesn't.
So I'm wondering, can I change channel number as I please, what will happen next time I scan for channels, both with the merged channels, and the channels I've changed number. (I've spend some time getting it perfect now, so I don't want to mess it up)
