Live TV fails - lost recording
Posted by: mvallevand - 2012-09-28, 01:27 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (7)

Sub, I tried the nightly xbmc to test a bit and it looks like when I started live tv to test and nothing happened except it blocked the tuner without lease fail messages and it didn't unblock for a scheduled recording. I didn't notice it early enough so only have nextpvr logs.

Terratec H7 dvb-c will not work in nextpvr
Posted by: KRA - 2012-09-27, 05:46 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (26)

PROBLEM SOLVED, PATCH FOR 2.5.5 INCLUDED HERE http://forums.gbpvr.com/attachment.php?a...1348779655 WILL BE INCLUDED IN FUTURE RELEASES.

I added my second tuner to nextpvr now, and I have problems.

it's the Terratec H7 dvb-c/t tuner. And it's confirmed working

When I try to scan using dvb-c I get following error popup:

"Unable to start device: Device failed to start"

If I try to scan dvb-t it works, but not dvb-c. Did a quick search on forum, only found some gbpvr post about bda.ini - so I hope there is a simple fix.

Any hints are very welcome !

This is what log say when I try to scan

Recording cut short but no error
Posted by: phmt - 2012-09-27, 03:40 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Running NPVR 2.5.5 on Winxp and saving recordings to NAS using UNC path. My tunner is HDHomerun Prime. I have what appears to be something of a mystery. I have just started using npvr and successfully completed some manual recordings (initial testing). Also successfully completed a couple of recordings of shows that had already started when I started recording.

My first two attempts to request a recording in a future time slot had issues. Several hours earlier, I selected two shows (using NEWA) to start recording at 8pm (one 1hr show and 1 2hr show). The next morning I looked and both shows had very small file sizes. I played both of them and apparently, in both cases, only the first ~10 minutes recorded. I could not find any errors anywhere. I even checked winxp event viewer and nothing. NPVR was not running so there were no entries whatsoever in the log for that time period. I could not see anything unusual in Nrecord (attached) either. It appears to have run and ended normally. I thought something happened with my NAS, but nothing in the logs there, everything looks normal. In fact the time stamp on the files is the correct end time in each case.

I am stumped. Any ideas?

  Best Rootkik Finder Recommendations sought
Posted by: Lao Pan - 2012-09-27, 08:11 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

I have just spent a whole day and 180 mile round trip answering a panic call from an aged aunt whose Laptop was blue screening (page fault in a non page area) Nothing would get it to boot, Vista repair could not do it - even a Linux boot disc failed to start (tty locked out) After finally geting it to boot to safe mode I managed to set a chkdisk on boot which on booting back to safe mode ran silently - and got the computer running again.
A full scan with Avast and TDSSKiller (my fav Rootkit weapon till now) proved clean.
I then proceeded to update the software and tidy up the computer. After removing over 300 empty folders from application data, I was uninstalling an old version of LAV filters, when Avast found a rootkit - which it was able to remove.
Another Chkdisk was needed before the computer could run a disk defrag.

What I would like to know is anybody's recommendations for a really good Anti Rootkit solution - This is the second time in a year that I have had to do battle with these evil beasties - and in addition formatted my HTPC due to paranoia

Issue getting "external" VLC to work
Posted by: phmt - 2012-09-26, 11:50 PM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (4)

I am running npvr 2.5.5 on a XP machine. Tuner is a HDhomerun Prime. I am using NEWA ( with FireFox 15.0.1) from a Windows 7 64bit machine on the same subnet to access the xp box.
In the NEWA config I changed the VLC pointers to the correct folder for 64bit machine. I also have the "Open Stream in External Player" checked. When I click on View Live it opens up the FireFox VLC plugin (even though I have use external checked) and streams fine. Unfortunately I can't seem to re-size the plugin window so I would prefer to use the external VLC player. Even with the external player checked it won't direct the stream to it. I disabled the plug-in, closed FireFox and restarted it, but still watch live opens up a FireFox window, but now nothing streams of course with the plugin disabled. I can get the external VLC to stream just fine if I copy link as, paste, and edit the watch live link and manually put into the external VLC instance. I can't seem to get NEWA to start an external VLC session and stream.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Popcorn Hour support for HE-AAC LATM audio use on HD TV in New Zealand and Norway
Posted by: fire - 2012-09-26, 10:01 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (16)

I installed a UHF arial and was going to try to use it with my GBPVR/WinXP/Popcornhour a-100 system. I have been using DVB-S for several years and it has been going great.

I re-read the Survival guide for MVPMCX2 and noticed the restrictions section included:
- does not support HE-AAC LATM audio use on HD TV in New Zealand and Norway

I have a Nova-T USB stick and have tried recording and playing a NZ Freeview DVB-T stream and can't get it to play even on my PC. I have done a bit of reading on this forum and it seems there have been several attempts to get this working a Popcorn Hour NMT, but I haven't found any conclusive posts that describe how to do it. I have a perfectly running system and before I go trying too many things and possibly breaking it for several days (Wife would not be happy) I was wondering if someone could give me some advice. I have recently purchased a Samsung 55 inch TV so that is the driving force behind wanting HD recordings.

Is there any way to get this working with a Popcorn Hour a-110? If not do the a-110 or a-200 Popcorn Hours support this, as I could buy one off e-bay?

Thanks in advance.
Andy.

Sub, do you have a zip file of a Linux build? I built a machine with OpenElec this morning and was thinking about testing the NPVR addon. I don't know how to build on Linux though Sad

  Channel Icon Idea
Posted by: wileecoyote - 2012-09-26, 05:52 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (2)

I was playing with the channel icon locations and found out how to find the userdata folder for Windows. I expanded your code to write to the addon_data\pvr.nextpvr folder as such...

Code:
#ifdef TARGET_WINDOWS // find directory for storing channel icons m_channelIconDirectory = getenv("APPDATA"); m_channelIconDirectory += PATH_SEPARATOR_CHAR; m_channelIconDirectory += "XBMC"; m_channelIconDirectory += PATH_SEPARATOR_CHAR; m_channelIconDirectory += "userdata"; m_channelIconDirectory += PATH_SEPARATOR_CHAR; m_channelIconDirectory += "addon_data"; m_channelIconDirectory += PATH_SEPARATOR_CHAR; m_channelIconDirectory += "pvr.nextpvr"; m_channelIconDirectory += PATH_SEPARATOR_CHAR; #elif defined (TARGET_LINUX) || defined(TARGET_DARWIN) #elif defined(TARGET_OSX) #endif

You might expand it to create/write to a channel_icon folder in the pvr.nextpvr folder.

I didn't know where the folders are in Linux or OSX so I left those blank for now.

Edit: I forgot to mention that this code works on Windows 8 as well.

Multiple Copies of Some Recurring Recordings
Posted by: BrettB - 2012-09-26, 04:00 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I'm noticing strange behavior getting multiple copies of some recurring recordings. For instance, tonight, I got 3 copies of Private Practice and 2 copies of NCIS. Last night I got 2 copies of Castle, 2 copies of Major Crimes, and 2 copies of How I Met Your Mother. Logs attached.

I'm confused! Anyone have any ideas?
