  Poor video quality
Posted by: mattyb - 2012-08-17, 11:57 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Getting very poor video playback quality with NPVR and not sure which decoders to use to improve it. Previously for mpg2 content my old GBPVR setup on WinXP used nVidia PureVideo and it worked great, but with my new setup (in signature) on Win7 it looks awful - choppy and not-sharp. Have installed SAF and played around a bit but not getting anywhere. Is there a good thread I can read to learn up a bit more? Or any quick advice to point me in the right direction?

Many thanks in advance.

How to remove default recordings directory?
Posted by: mattyb - 2012-08-16, 10:33 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

This is odd. NPR->Settings->Recording - when I click on the Default recording directory the 'Remove' button is greyed out. I don't want my recordings on this drive - I want to allocate them somewhere else. How do I delete this default directory?

device rule for HVR-1250 not working
Posted by: johnsonx42 - 2012-08-16, 09:25 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Since adding analog to the mix here, I've had a couple of recordings report "Device Failed to start". This time I decided to investigate, and realized NPVR had tried to use my HVR-1250 for both digital and analog at the same time. I thought I'd seen an entry in DeviceRules.xml that should have handled it, but on closer inspection that rule was for a DVB device and used slightly different device names. So without further ado, here is a rule for the HVR-1250:

Code:
<!-- Hauppauge 885 (HVR-1250)--> <Filter name="Hauppauge WinTV 885 BDA Tuner/Demod" resource="Hauppauge 885" /> <Filter name="Hauppauge WinTV 885 Video Capture" resource="Hauppauge 885" />

I don't know if this rule should be in the standard file distributed with NPVR or not - I don't know if this rule might break some other hauppauge device that actually does have two tuners like the HVR-1850 or HVR-1600.

  dvr-ms and Windows 7... Incompatible??
Posted by: ga_mueller - 2012-08-16, 01:23 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

Sorry to dredge up the past, but I'm trying to update my gbpvr XPSP3 install to Win7, so I can make use of exe plugins... (xbmc for movies/youtube/Playon) which I presently cannot, because the only non-tearing XP renderer is VMR9 FSE.

I'd like to use dvr-ms, because it works the best (ie perfectly) with comskip. ts files skip inaccurately.

With dvr-ms and Win7, I can record, comskip runs and finds commercials, but I get a black screen and a snippet of sound when trying to playback in gbpvr. The file plays fine in a directshow app (WMP, graphstudio). The gbpvr logs show that the same graph is made, as the directshow apps that successfully play the file.

I know everyone will tell me to go to npvr, but I'm curious if anyone has had a similar experience as I have described, and if they were able to solve this problem.

Thanks...

  Request: Sort by TheTVDB Season/Episode
Posted by: smajor - 2012-08-15, 06:46 PM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (2)

I've run into this wish a few times. Sometimes I miss the first run of shows and end up recording the reruns over a couple of weeks. When I go to watch them, the sort by date doesn't really work because they are often out of order. My daughters have started recording all 20 seasons of Little House on the Prairie.

When a show is linked to TheTVDB they have the shows with Season number and Episode number. Could TVShows use this information to sort recordings this way for linked shows?

Slow Mini Guide Channel Changing using Client
Posted by: gonzo90017 - 2012-08-15, 05:50 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

Changing channels using the mini guide is really slow. I click Enter, then after 2 seconds I can hear the audio of the channel i'm switching to but no video. The audio only lasts for 2 seconds. NPVR finally switches to the channel after about a minute. It then takes around 10 seconds for the video and audio to sync up.

If I select a channel using the regular Guide I do not experience any delays. Channel changing takes around 2 seconds.

NPVR setup - PVR150 with SVideo input
Posted by: mattyb - 2012-08-15, 10:49 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

I feel like I'm missing something really simple here.... I've setup NPVR and installed the WinTV softpvr components (Analog tuner is showing up in Devices) so I can use my PVR150 with an SVideo input from my Sky TV STB. But I can't get anything to show up on screen. How do I tell NPVR to use the S-Video input for this tuner??

  Automate Multiple Recording Directories
Posted by: msmith8228 - 2012-08-14, 05:54 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

With the new feature of Multiple Recording Directories -- would it be possible to provide an "automatic mode" that would select the directory with the most free space.

This would allow us to setup directories on a number of separate drives -- and the system would automatically select the drive with the most free space as the storage location. Using multiple drives would vastly increase the amount of recording storage space -- and a "automatic mode" would allow the drives to fill up in a automatically controlled manner -- unmanaged by the end user.

So -- multiple drives with the target storage location automatically selected based on free space at recording setup time (or when the recording actually starts which would be better) -- is this possible?

  Problems with HDX-1000
Posted by: PeterC_UK - 2012-08-14, 10:43 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (11)

I am trying out NextPVR as an alternative to SageTV but having problems setting up a HDX-1000.

With my current settings it sometimes works and brings up the main menu, when it works I am able to navigate to a recording or video which plays for about 10 seconds and then I end up with a blank screen.
The main menu will not always display at startup but the NextPVR logs show the remote control commands are detected.

The HDX-1000 will play back videos in its own interface through the shares without any problems.

Are there any settings which might be causing this problem?
I have attached the logs and the results from the NMT checker utility.

Regards
Peter

Problem with getting comskip to work.
Posted by: Devonian - 2012-08-13, 07:22 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (14)

I have been using GBPVR and NPVR for many years now without problems.

After updating to Windows 7 I can't get the batch programs in "scripts" to work.

Here is my PostProcessing.bat file.

Rem for Win7 use:
cd /d "H:\Comskip"
comskip %1
pause

My Windows 7 is on the H partition and the comskip files are in H:\comskip directory.

The recording directory is on the D Drive.

I put the pause in to try and capture the command window and it would appear that the command window is not accessed at all after recording.

Removing the pause has no effect and the log files show a normal shut down from recording with no access to a command file.

Is using the H partition (I have dual booting with XP on C partition) a problem?
