I had my A-110 working with XP, but after upgrading to Windows 8, I get "Request cannot be processed" when I select the "N-PVR" option from my NMT. BTW, I can play an mp3 from the Music menu.

Hi,
I am running NPVR ver 2.4.3 on windows 7 home premium sp1 and for a little while now just occasional recordings cause NPVR to crash on playback.
The recordings will playback fine in windows media player. This is completely repeatable for any of these recordings, but most are fine, can't see what is different about them ie. not all the same channel.
I was wondering if the log revealed what might be going on, I could not see anything obvious when I checked but I am no expert....
I've been trying to use NPVR with my Pinnacle PCTV 100e, a (rather old) analogue TV tuner. I've set everything up as per instructions in the wiki, and NPVR recognises the tuner in Settings, but when I try to search for channels, it comes up with "Unable to locate analog in pin" error. I did a bit of searching and found that the problem may be related to system language - I'm using a Russian Win7, so the pin names (see logs) are in Russian too. I've tried to change the region settings, but to no avail so far. Any suggestions?

Having a problem exiting the Auto load Index file . If I hit enter on startup to exit to NMT it goes into a loop back to same index screen and reloads NPVR. If i try to exit NPVR from the exit menu the same thing happens. I have to keep turning off the popcornhour to get into the popcornhour menu. Any advice much appreciated
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know, or have ideas, on whether it's better (wear-and-tear wise) to let the computer sleep/hibernate between recording/viewing sessions, versus keeping the computer on constantly?
I have a vague memory of reading/learning that the switching between (relative) cold and heat which happens when you turn a computer on will cause more wear and tear than keeping the computer on, if you do it often.
Let's say the computer wakes up 4-8 times per day for watching, doing recordings and update the epg. Is there any significant difference in "lifespan" of the computer with either of the two options?
The way my household uses the PVR is to ignore it for ages, then when we have time, catch up on all the things that recorded.
Even with drive space cheap, it would be really useful to have a capability to configure multiple recording shares, which would be used sequentially as the in-use share neared capacity.

I want to record TV signal for several TV channels 24/7 and save the stream in fragments (15min fragments) to a single destinantion.
My questions:
1. Will http://www.hauppauge.com/index.htm hardware be enough? Any specific model?
2. Is it doable with NextPVR software?
3. Can I put timeframe and for example logotype on movie material "live during recording"?

Monday evening, Avast popped up a notification telling me a new version of the program was available (the actual binaries, not just the virus defs). I installed it and everything seemed fine for about an hour when I was browsing a web site with Chrome and dragged the scroll bar down and the 'page' just went completely grey. I tried refreshing but still just a grey page. I could change tabs but again, opening new pages or refreshing open ones produced a grey page. I closed Chrome and tried to re-open but was told there were insufficient system resources. Task Manager stats didn't confirm this - I had plenty of free RAM and the processor usage was low (10-20%).
I then tried Outlook Express which was already open and tried to open an email which I'd viewed about 10 minutes earlier - the email window opened but displayed a message saying it couldn't display the content. I closed OE and tried to start it again and was again told there weren't enough system resources.
At this point things started going really weird - the desktop icons all lost their text labels, popups were showing as blank grey rectangles with buttons with no text and so on. I began to suspect my ancient AGP graphics card so shutdown and removed it and switched to the mobo's on-board graphics, rebooted and everything was fine....for about an hour and exactly the same symptoms appeared.
I scheduled a full boot-time chkdsk for the system drive and rebooted (nothing significant was found) and ran a memory check (no problems). The machine booted into Windows and I checked Chrome and OE worked fine then closed them and left the PC at the Windows desktop doing nothing and went to watch TV for a couple of hours. When I came back, nothing would start (insufficient resources message etc) so basically it had developed the same problems just sitting idle without me doing anything.
It hadn't occurred to me Avast might be the problem (I've been using it for about 2 years and never had issues) but that was the only significant change to my setup on Monday. I rebooted to get things working again, downloaded AVG Free, un-installed Avast, rebooted and installed AVG. That was about 16 hours ago and I haven't seen the problems since.
I Googled to see if there were any known issues with the last update to Avast but couldn't find anything (admittedly I didn't search too far). All I can think is the update process went wrong and something subtle was broken - after all AV software hooks itself in to low-level parts of the OS as well as email/web apps.
Anyway, sorry for the rambling post but I just thought I'd share. If your PC starts doing bizarre things, try disabling or un-installing your AV software - you never know.
