Just wondering can anyone advise settings to upscale SD TV for a HDTV set in NPVR? The channels look fine on my Panasonic TVs own tuner and upscaler, but they look blocky through NPVR I assume because the video is linearly stretched.
As the guide suggests, I installed the vidImport.exe in the NPVR folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR\NextPVR.exe).
Later, after hours of reading, I found out that the vidImport.exe can reside anywhere.
It would make sense to me that if it is restricted to the NPVR.exe folder, that would be easier to recognize the location of NextPVR.exe, ie, the active folder. Or, at least, try the default installation folder.
In post #157 in the legacy thread, someone else had the same problem.

I haven't had to use VidImport in quite a while until today (NPVR has been working pretty well!). So, now I've got some feedback/requests...
1. I think that with NPVR, the internal times (and hence export/import) are in UTC. I'm guessing that your local timezone is GMT, which is why it is working OK for you?
2. For NPVR, the final import command (for me on 64-bit) should be "C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR\NextPVR.exe -import". If you could detect/update that, it would be great.

This guide is for the current 2.x versions of MCEBuddy. The purpose is to have MCEBuddy convert NPVR's .TS recordings to smaller file size .MP4s with very minimal loss of video quality.
Download the latest version of MCEBuddy which is at the top of the list from the link above. You will need to know if your version of Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit.
Open the .ZIP file after the download completes and install MCEBuddy.
Once MCEBuddy is installed, open the attached .ZIP file at the bottom of this post.
Extract both files to C:\Program Files\MCEBuddy2x\config and overwrite the two files already there.
YOU MUST TELL MCEBUDDY WHERE NPVR SAVES .TS RECORDINGS TO!!! To do that...
Open MCEBuddy.
Click the SETTINGS button.
Click on NPVR Recordings under MONITOR LOCATIONS and click the CHANGE button.
In the MONITOR PATH field, it will say D:\Recorded TV. Click the button with the 3 ... on it to browse to your recordings folder.
Click OK then click OK again.
The attached config files will setup MCEBuddy using a conversion task called .TS to .MP4 which will...
Convert .TS to .MP4 starting 10 seconds into the recording to help avoid audio/video sync issues using 1000 video bitrate and 160 audio bitrate.
Extract CC and save them to a .SRT file.
Not delete original .TS recordings.
Disable Comskip.
Disable cropping.
Maintain recorded aspect ratio.
To stop CC .SRT files from being created...
Open MCEBuddy.
Click the SETTINGS button.
Click on .TS to .MP4 under CONVERSION TASKS and click the CHANGE button.
You will see a double arrowhead pointing UP and DOWN. Click on that.
Uncheck the box to the left of EXTRACT CC.
Click OK. You will be warned that there is no destination directory provided which is what we want so converted recordings are placed in the same folder the .TS file is/was in.
NPVR will play the .TS file instead of the .MP4 unless the .TS file has been deleted. I usually watch my recordings with either VLC or Media Player Classic set to the correct aspect ratio. If you want to keep the .TS and watch the .MP4, use one of these programs.
To delete the original .TS file after creating a .MP4 so the .MP4 plays in NPVR and to save hard drive space...
Open MCEBuddy.
Click the SETTINGS button.
You will see a double arrowhead pointing UP and DOWN. Click on that.
Uncheck the box to the left of DELETE ORIGINAL FILE.
Click YES on the confirmation then click OK.
Conversion times will depend on how good your computer is. A 1 hour recording takes about 40 minutes to convert on my 6-core AMD 3.2 GHz CPU with 12 GBs of DDR3 RAM running Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit.
DO NOT ENABLE COMSKIP IN MCEBUDDY!!! For whatever reason, it screws up the timing in the .SRT files and it varies a lot during different recordings making it hard to get the offset just right.

All very well and good pointing to a MP link but that link may change and that is boring and tedious to find that it is a missing link.
I 'think' I can speak on sub's behalf here to say that I suspect he would not like to host any M-Soft files on his server (sub?)
I've just re-scanned my HVR-2200 because NZ changed its DVB-T frequencies. I've removed all channels listed for each tuner, done a new "All country / All region" scan and added the channels back. I've then set them to the right Channel ID and mapping against the XMLTV file, and reloaded the EPG.
However, when I try to watch live TV, I get "cannot communicate with the recording service". If I try to start the service manually, I get "error 1067: the process terminated unexpectedly". The Windows EventVwr shows the following app crash (most recent WER/appcrash info in the log.zip file, along with the nPVR logs folder)
Any advice appreciated!

I just recently moved from GBPVR to nPVR. In moving my recordings, some things were messed up and I'd like to edit the nPVR database, but I'm having trouble figuring out the new structure. I see that nPVR.db3 has a SCHEDULED_RECORDING table that contains the file path, show name and OID. However, I cannot find the table that contains the subitle, show description, etc. Can someone point me in the right direction to find all the information linked to the recordings OID?
I upgraded to 2.4.3 on the weekend - old version was working fine - beginning to regret the upgrade now
What's happening is that not all recurring recordings are making it on to the pending recording list via the auto update of the epg. If I manually force an epg update via the Settings -> Channels, they do appear, but disappear the next time the auto update runs.
Yes, I have rebooted, yes all npvr services were stopped at the time of the upgrade.
What am I doing wrong? if anything? I'm in Oz. - this is not a problem with the EPG data itself as a manual update works fine & I have another backup machine with the old version of npvr, still working ok.
I have tried emptying the EPG, then updating manually - that works, but the next time the auto EPG update runs the same problem occurs.
Logs attached - unfortunately the data is logged in two different places - NPVR.log for the manual updates, NRecord.log for the auto updates, so there is no easy correlation of messages.
