Freeview HD UK and Popcorn A110
Posted by: hansol123 - 2012-04-28, 05:15 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (18)

I have just added a TBS dual DVB-T2 card to my system and all is working well apart from the following.

1 No EPG information on BBC HD ITV HD or C4 HD , resolved by using an XML file extracted from Digiguide.

2. No sound on HD channels when recordings played back on my Popcorn A110 , I believe that this is something to do with the AAC encoding. I tried playing around with VLC but do not really understand how to configure it to stream to the Popcorn and attached TV.

3. The files play ok on my PC and on our Smart Sony bedroom tv using Serviio.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks

Multiple locations to use PVR card and NPVR (is this possible (yet?))
Posted by: SFX Group - 2012-04-28, 03:26 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

Hi, so here’s the thing...

I will be going to satellite, this means i can have up to 4 receivers, however this also means 4 recording hardware for NPVR, so either of the below (input please)

1 - I have a server with 4 cards (or maybe 2 with double input) in a box with the 4 satellite receivers in there and have this NPVR as the "server" and clients (at least 3 of them) talking to this one server for recordings and channels to see.
-- The above means a really good IR blaster so i need to know what will work for what channel

2 - Smaller boxes (3 of them using intel ATOM) with a PVR card in, installed with NPVR to record from that Satellite receiver.
-- The above means i have 2-3 NPVR with no central server, how do i see multiple installs to be able to see there recordings? (not sure this is possible as there’s no "central" server as such

I prefer option 1, however very worried about IR blasters for this, currently i would use HVR 2250 (2 of them i think) however would NPVR know which IR blaster to change which card (ive not looked at NPVR close enough for this in the newest release).

Input here would be nice...

  HDHomeRun Tuners Locking up
Posted by: sbiddle - 2012-04-27, 09:59 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

I've noticed a few issues lately with tuners on my HDHomeRun "locking up". The LED's are staying on, and obbviously any attempts to acquire a tuner for live TV and/or recordings fails. Power cycling the HDHomeRun immediately fixes the issue. I'm running the latest firmware which came out a few weeks ago, the issue also existed with the previous software.

I've spent very little time looking at this issue so far, but the issue seems to definately be something with either NPVR or EPG Collector as I don't access the tuner from any other machines.

Has anybody else noticed anything like this?

Weird tuning problems in XP Client
Posted by: gonzo90017 - 2012-04-27, 06:37 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

This only happens with the XP Client.

If I go to the TV Guide and select a channel it usually times out? and gives me the error:
"The tuner being used for live tv is not available". The weird thing is that if I select one of the main channels.
In other words 5.1, 28.1 or 30.1 it tunes in fine. But if I select one of the "SUB" channels. In other words: 5.2, 5.3, 28.2, 30.2, 30.3 etc..
it gives me the error message.

And even stranger is that if I select one of the "SUB" channels from the mini guide it tunes in, in less then 2 seconds!

  DCR-2650 Network problem?
Posted by: roy - 2012-04-27, 06:17 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (13)

I've been having problems lately with my DCR-2650, failed recordings and unresponsiveness, that seem to be unrelated to NPVR and more related to networking issues, that I can't figure out. The DCR2650, which is it's own network adapter, will occasionally seem to be locked up and unresponsive, causing recordings to fail, live tv won't work, and NPVR becomes unresponsive while trying to communicate with the 2650. The NPVR logs don't usually show any error that I can see, except "unable to contact device". Thinking that it may be firewall or port related, I turned off windows firewall, and didn't see the problem for several days until again last night.

I recently installed "Networx" a little systray utility that monitors network traffic, and whenever the 2650 is locked up, this utility shows "networx is not running". Also the NEWA gadget will sometimes not be able to connect when it's locked up. When I unplug power from the 2650, network responsiveness resumes immediately, and after the 2650 reboots, NPVR can record properly. My other tuner, a 2250, still works properly when the 2650 is locked up.

I have to believe this is network related, and windows blocking it somehow, but I don't know how to diagnose it. Any advise or suggestions on tools to use or how to investigate and diagnose this?

Thanks

  Latest usable AMD Catalyst/driverv version?
Posted by: BigMoose - 2012-04-27, 04:57 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (10)

I'm currently running 11.11 for the HD4600 in my pvr box. However recently I've started getting BSODs claiming to be from the display driver. No idea what's gone wrong so hope it's not dying hardware.

What's the most recent usable release from AMD? Last time I upgraded it made a total mess with breaking the overscan...

Thanks for any advice!

Im trying to build a 4 channel recorder.

Can I record 4 channels simultaneously on the same system with the application?
What TV Tuners should I use?
Would you recommend any specific brand or model?

Thank you for the support.

  no file associations
Posted by: kennyd - 2012-04-27, 03:06 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

Hi All
NPVR / GBPVR is great and I have been using it for a few years in multiple rooms. Thanks for all involved. I would like some advice with the following please.

Recently my online download source of American tv shows has starting "delivering" my shows with no file association, eg( Grimm.S01E17.HDTV.x264-LOL.[VTV]. ) leaving me to guess if it is .mp4, .mpg etc etc. I'm pretty sure i have not guessed correctly as the video in out of sync with audio when i try to ply with NPVR. When I play the same shows with windows media player them seem ok. So my question is two fold.

1. Is it possible to select a file for playback without a file association in NPVR, like i can do with Media Player
2. Does anyone know what codecs/ the correct file association is needed for these type of files.

Thanks
Kenny

Couple Of Failed Recordings Since Rebuild
Posted by: Lao Pan - 2012-04-27, 08:34 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Rebuilt the HTPC with Vista after 4 years of GBPVR / NPVR service and have had a couple of failed recordings.

First one was on Tuesday when I think the computer went to sleep a couple of minutes before it was due to wake for a recording - and stayed asleep Sad

Second was last night - Set Lemmings to record and put computer to standby. Computer woke and started recording. NPVR & ndigitalhost logs show all was well but nrecord log shows a second resume 50 mins after the start.
The resultant Video was only 11 minutes long which is the time that I have set for the Unattended Resume timeout in the registry (I am trying not to use MCE Standby Tool this time)

Is there something I have missed on the new install -Interact with desktop or something (I have PBS's Activate Awaymode installed) or is Unattended resume not honoring stay awake requests from NPVR?

Maybe I need to put Fullresume.exe in a wake bat?

Good Job the film turned out to be in french - I would have been in serious trouble otherwise Big Grin

NPVR 2.4.3 patched to No7 in the sticky
