I had troubles with my Hauppauge MCE IR transciever - like port 1 never working and then port 2 packing it in. I decided to get the USB-UIRT since it seems so well supported but I couldn't find any emitter cables except online from out of the country (Canada). I talked to the USB-UIRT maker and he assured me that a simple cable would work and that I only needed regular clear mini-white LEDs, not actual IR leds. So I bought a 3.5mm stereo audio cable and the same size mono cable.
From there I cut one end off the stero cable (couldn't find a Y adapter) and cut the mono cable in half as well as cutting off the ends. I spliced/soldered/shrink tubinged (not a word, I know) one mono cable to channel one and the other two channel two. Then I soldered and shrink tubed the splices ( 1/16") and shrink tubed the junction of the three cables (3/16") to provide a bit of strain relief. I soldered and shrink tubed the positive lead to the LED (long leg, short part of the inside) but didn't bother with the negative. Then I shrink tubed the led to the cable with a bit of tubing over the very end ridge on the LED.
Tried it out and they're working independently and both change channels on my STB no problem - even at some range.
The small clear white's don't come in really low power it seems. The lowest my local supplier had was 1000mcd (typical old red 5mm is something like 80mcd). I'll post a pic tomorrow - it doesn't even look terrible.
NPVR's default Live TV startup from the Guide has a "One Moment Please" message. My HDPVRs will take about 5-6 seconds to tune the channel and start up. When I'm in front of the server I can watch the activity. From my clients I have no visual indication without that message that I actually clicked the button to watch the channel.
Could this message also be added to the next version of TV Listings whenever that might be? I know 3.6 was just released (and it's working great for me!), so no hurry for this.
With NPVRTSReader2.ax being so new, I'm having problems with 2.4.3. I'm more than happy to help test through the problems to make things better, but I can't test all the time.
In the interests of usability when I/we aren't in testing mode, is there a way to revert to NPVRTSReader.ax without reverting to 2.3.6?
For example, seeing this as a possible problem in the logs on my clients:

Show is Kitchen Nightmares. It played back just fine with 2.3.6 on the same client and still plays okay on the Server now that it's 2.4.3.

Hope all in UK have enjoyed the great weather, not sure what the weather is doing elsewhere globally, and should we all be worried? Is this standard global weather shift patterns or global warming!
I didn't apply the new skipping patch as I wasn't really having any problems with live or recorded TV skipping. Now that I have installed 2.4.3 my live TV pausing/skipping has gone to hell in a handbag.
If I pause live TV, when I un-pause, playback seems to skip some random amount of time in the future. If I try to skip back, playback freezes and sometimes generates a message that NPVR has stopped responding. Basically for me, it's completely unusable.
I will collect some logs today and post them and then restore my previous 2.3.6 install, which was pretty flawless.
EDIT: By the way, skipping on recordings is absolutely fine, the problem only applies to live TV.
I don't understand logic of recording
I have 2 analog turners, version 2.3.6
to night I have recoding that go to 23:10
next recording is starting 00:15
then I tryed to do a manuel recording starting 22:10 to 06:00 (nascar) it says " NO Turner ...."
if I delete recoding that start 23:10 and then do Manuel recoding and after that via EPG (23:10) says "quick recording" it works
this is how it looks =recording .... not recording

the only recording that is on only 1 turner is the manual
I could understand if I get "no turner if then manual recording and the recording that ends 2310 using same turner
but now I dont understand this

A long-time GBPVR user, I'm now looking at NPVR as a replacement/upgrade.
But I do have a question. With GBPVR I could manually enter start and end times with the keypad. However with NPVR it seems I can only scroll to the start and end times (in 10 minute increments!). This is painfully slow when setting up a series of manual recordings. I can't find any reference to this in the forums, and I can't be the only one wanting to do this, so am I missing something?
It should be noted that patches are listed generally in chronological order, but not perfectly so. The thread a given patch is posted in may contain additional information on exactly what a given patch was intended to do, and may also contain information on additional settings required if you wish to use the functionality provided. Finally, not all patches actually fix what they are supposed to, but the changes usually remain in the file going forward, so they are listed as part of the update history.
Installation Notes These "patches" are simply replacement files for the existing NPVR program files. You should extract them and copy them over the existing files; the default directory is C:\Program Files\NPVR. If you are running Vista or 7 and have UAC enabled, you will likely need to do this from an elevated command prompt or explorer window. To get an elevated explorer window, go to All Programs->Accessories, right-click on Windows Explorer and select "Run as Administrator". Now, within that explorer window only, you are the Administrator.
Before installing patches, you must exit NextPVR.exe, shutdown the NPVR Recording Service and close the NPVR Tray Icon (using the "Stop NPVR Service" icon accomplishes both).
I recommend that you restart your system after installing patches. I've seen numerous cases where the Recording Service is not able to restart properly due to a socket error. You can check your NRecord.log to see whether it did or not, or just reboot to be safe.
Crashes here with any attempt at skipping also file always restarts at beginning [no resume].
If I substitute the last previous NPVRTSReader2.ax all is well.
