sub I know we have discussed this before & couldn't find a solution but after the discussion in the "Bling" thread I have been thinking about it again & "before" I start making alternative Video skins & batch file to change them I thought I would bring it up again...
for the three different Views & in the past you said that it reads the fanart first so there is no way to have a visible=@fanArt type thing...
My thought was if it could display an alternative/default fanart image (from the skin\video directory maybe?) if it didn't find one in the directory the video file was in may get around my problem & also be of use to other users??
Ive just bought a kworld DVB-T USB tuner from Maplin. Installed everything and all went fine, but the bundled software is awfull, so I downloaded nPVR to use instead.
Installed nPVR, but when I go to settings, the first thing I noticed was it said that "DirectX is not available on this machine". The device is indeed running DirectX 9.0c.
The second problem is that when I scan for channels, none are found. The Tuner is detected by nPVR, and I have set the location correctly, but it finds nothing. The software that was bundled with the tuner, however, finds all the channels, so its not a signal strength issue.
If anyone can help me sort this out i would very much appreciate it, as i am getting more than a little frustrated with this project!
My power supply and motherboard were fried due to power surges. I swapped out our client pc we had in our bedroom until I could purchase new hardware and after installing drivers from windows update the tuner worked fine on windows 7 ultimate 32bit
Issue:
I have had a vbox DTA 150 tuner for a while for over the air transmissions of ATSC antennae tv. With the new windows 7 pro 64 bit, windows update still finds drivers for it but the device seems to show up in NPVR as an IPTV device. It shows up in device manager as a vbox dba tuner.
Question:
So can I add the tuner manually or replace the new npvr database with the older one that had the tuners configured correctly?
My thoughts are that the 64bit driver is somehow not working correclty with NPVR for some reason.
I am about to relocate for work and spend several days a week living out of an apartment away from home. I'd like to setup a PC using NPVR at home and be able to remotely stream Live TV and recordings at the apartment. Is there a way to do so simply using an NPVR client in the apartment and setting up the NPVR server at home to transcode on-the-fly? I'd like to avoid using the web browser based NEWA and simply use the dedicated NPVR application. Thank you.
After moving I no longer have a capture device I can use, but I'd like to be able to use nPVR for video files. Do I remember correctly that the setup for remotes is in the capture device setup menu? How do I set up my USB UIRT remote when I no longer have any capture devices?
I added a directory to videos to play mts files via NPVR (on the pch), but NPVR does not show the files.
Is there a file type I need to add to config.xml?
If this works, then is there a play all option available?
If not possible via NPVR, I did manage to add the share and play mts files natively, but I can't find a play all option in the NMT documentation. Is this possible?
I'm probably not Googling the correct things. Can anyone tell me what are the keyboard shortcuts for the color buttons on the MCE remote? If some even exist, might as well tell me if NPVR will honor them too. :p

Just installed NPVR. (I also have GBPVR on my computer and have not deleted or uninstalled it yet. But I have closed its service before installing NPVR).
Now, I downloaded and installed latest WinTV 7 installer from Hauppauge site and have only updated my drivers from it (not installed the complete WinTV app).
However, I can only see 3 tv cards under Devices whereas I have 04 cards in my computer and they were detected OK by GBPVR.
Moreover, where is the logs folder in NPVR like we had in GBPVR? I want to post logs for your review.
Before I release this to the wiki, I thought I'd post it here for some feedback and testing first.
What's changed:
- Now uses the hidden menu style rather than a button list
- Only five buttons can now be visible because of this (use Settings to configure which ones and their order)
- Monitors CPU, memory, and network activity
- Detects updates to NPVR and changes status message at the bottom of screen to show this
- Major rewrite of the threading code - should be faster, use less resources, cause less problems (!)
- Settings now stored in /Plugins/System/System.xml rather than config.xml
- Logging level can be specified
- Change view with Blue/Alt+B or activate Shutdown with Stop/CTRL+S
- Lots of bug fixes
If you don't use the default skin, you'll need to delete your skin's System folder until an update for it is available. You also might want to delete the plugin's settings from config.xml as they won't be used anymore.
I am opening up a new can of worms here, but here it goes...
I have a Hauppage WinTV-HVR-950Q usb tuner with the ir on the dongle. Previously I have tinkered with getting things to work with the dinky remote that comes with this tuner, but could not get it to be recognized on a prior installation of WinTV. Fresh install of Win7-64, and npvr now. I only installed the Hauppage drivers for npvr to use.
The main system remote I have is a Logitech Harmony 520, which I have enjoyed for a few years in controlling my system. In moving to an htpc/npvr setup I ask whether I can make these parts work. In the remote software setup I see that every button is programmable, but realize that I need to fix pc communication first.
Where do I start? Are there utility apps that I can use to test each step? Need newer parts?
