Hi

I've had a few BSOD's recently and on the last one, i managed to write down the driver (USBEHCI.SYS). Having done some research, it looks like it is a Microsoft bug with XP SP3 with certain hardware. Has anybody else come across this? I'm just trying to work out the simplest way to resolve it. It appears there is a Microsoft Hotfix (WindowsXP-KB969238-x86-ENU) which has to be requested from microsoft and i assume means paying for support. There are also some 3rd party sites that offer it but i'm not sure how trust-worthy they are.

I was wondering if it might be possible to downgrade just this driver to an older version?

Anyway, if anybody has experienced it and fixed it, it would be good to know how.

I did try to find the answer myself here on the forums, but have given up for the time being.

For the last two years, I successfully ran GBPVR with two wired MVP clients using the MVPMC dongle. I recently dedicated a separate Windows XP machine as a PVR and successfully installed NextPVR with a Hauppauge 1600 tuner card.

I have two issues:

1) The MVPs cannot find the NextPVR server (they can still see the old GBPVR server).

2) I cannot find where I configure NextPVR with the MVPMC dongle. In GBPVR I copied the file into the GBPVR directory and chose it from the dropdown box in the config program.

FYI, as a last resort, I tried installing GBPVR on the new box, but received several error messages during the installation, if that is any clue. The box meets all of the requirements (.net, directx, etc.).

I tried searching for any information on this and when I did the search with m3u as the keyword it keeps coming back with no results found. Manually searching, I came across this post:

which stated, at the time, that nPVR did not support m3u play lists, but that a patch was added to resolve this. I tried the patch listed, but since it was much older than the current EXE file it would not load. I have installed nPVR and the Final Patches (which I checked the list and saw nothing about m3u support) and when I click on m3u play lists from my network drive I get nothing. These list were created in WinAmp, but used to work on GBPVR. Is this supported like in GBPVR or am I missing something?

I am currently running version 1.4.7 of GBPVR on my XP system. I would like to install the NextPVR on my other system. Is it possible to setup NextPVR as a client for an older GBPVR server?

Do I have a netframework faillure?
Plenty of aplications that use is show no issues whatsoever, but think this is the only explanation.
I used to use 2.1.4, but after NPVR froze up again (explain this at he bottom), after a reboot(2 weeks later) reinstalled 2.2.6+patches, ever since I get errors, tried to use versions 2.1.5 + 2.1.4 again those showed pretty much the same erros.

- The receivver still works, cause I do receive the channels in MPC-HC + later tested it on a laptop (old one and not an alternative to my pc, but good for testing), which recorded fine.
- when trying to update EPG, it fails, but after restart of program, the tvguide is acurately updated, but won't record,in version 2.1.4 it does not manage to show an updated tvguide after restart npvr.
- when clicking record I get this error, after closing the clicked title is red indicating it's recording, but nothing is being recorded.

Now about something I've been meaning to ask about for a long time, NPVR stalls from time to time when clicking to make a new recording, this happens once every couple of weeks. Now whils I do not reboot ofter I think I've had the problem also within a day once so that not it.
When NPVR stall, sometime it ca't be killed not by multiple taskmanger or even Porcess Hackerss TERMINATOR, the only things left is one thread + these are the handles that I can't kill.
've heard this probable has someting to to with the drivers when this happens. ???




I mainly mention this for a complete picture, this problem right now is on the back burner.

I haven't simlpy tried to reinstall or repair it, becasue heard it ain't the easiest thing to to, as in it often doesn't have the desired effect, and I want to avert a reinstallation of windows at all cost, I'm just not in the mood.:mad:

I just got a power usage meter as a gift and now, of course, am scrutinizing all my electronics to death . In any case, when in my MusicMonkey plugin and showing the (static) list of songs in Now Playing my PC uses ~19W. When I go into the MusicMonkey screensaver where it forces an update/redraw every second for the elapsed time, it jumps to ~37W which is pretty much the same usage when watching HD video. When I am using the built-in "FixedImage" NPVR screensaver, every time the image moves the usage temporarily jumps to ~30W and then goes back down.

Is there any conceivable way to improve the redraw "efficiency" or is it just the way it is? Note that in the MusicMonkey screensaver the CPU usage only goes up a few percent from when viewing the Now Playing list (~6% versus ~3%).

I'm having dificulty streaming to my XP netbook. This is not related to any of my ipad querries.
I've tried changing the default to 7640 but still same result.
I've also got firewall exceptions for vlc.
What's my problem?

And another goodie to play around. Optimized for virtualizationscenarios this one could be used as mediaserver too. Only to configuring is a little ... complicate:
no devicemanager
no computermanagement
no mmc
no explorer
no .net framework
no open gl
only little direct x
no remote

Official this one is an evaluation copy. But afaik this one is usable for 4.000 days ... ( 14th decembre 2022 ).
