  NPVR so slow changing channels..
Posted by: bluespectrum - 2011-12-27, 07:30 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

I recently rebuilt windows on my box ran GBPVR great no performance issues at all.. Now that it is rebuilt I decided to upgrade to NextPVR. But the performance is horrible. When i change a channel it takes from 10 to 15 seconds to change on the fast side and slow is like 3 or 4 minutes. Then it might just say the tuner is begin used when nothing is begin recorded. I have a feeling it is the recording buffer so you can rewind. I never used it on GBPVR and disabled it. So basically I have 3 options, 1 fix the lag, 2 stop the buffer, or 3 install GBPVR again but I cant find the files the link is broken. Running a AMD 3600 X2 dual core with a gig of ram. No other issues with performance I can tell.

Composite Source using Hauppauge PVR500 gives sound but no video
Posted by: DukeBrymin - 2011-12-27, 04:56 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I'm trying to use gbpvr to record from a vhs. After scanning the forums, it seems like the answer is to set up a Capture Source as follows:
Recording Source: Analog Recording Plugin
Settings:
Capture Card Type: Hauppauge PVR500
Source: Composite, External Tuner
EPG Source: None

Then add a channel for the input and voila!

However, when I run pvrx2 and pick that channel, all I get is the sound. Any suggestions as to what I'm missing?

Thanks!

  SD EPG data

here's the thing, if I configure npvr to map to my schedules direct acct i don't get new(*) or any of the nifty icons(HDTV,16:9,dolby or CC). But if I scrape with mc2xml to my SD acct I do get that info in my guide. What am I missing?

Starting TV Guide to a specific channel
Posted by: pcostanza - 2011-12-26, 07:43 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

My Guide opens with channel 2 which is analog and I'd like to start at 1002 which is digital. I think there used to be a way to start at a certain channel (but not live tv) in the guide.
Is there some way to default the guide to a specific channel group?

  Windows wake event
Posted by: WKleeven - 2011-12-26, 09:52 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

First of all: Merry Christmas to you all.

I got a problem recently when a programmed show hasn't been recorded. I deleted the failed recording entry. I think the pc didn't wake from sleep, I seem to be having more of that recently.
I am now trying to figure out why the pc didn't wake.

In the nrecord log, I see "Requesting wake up for 'RecordingOID1343' at 23-12-2011 22:58".
Some time ago I knew where I could see where windows stores the wake requests, but I can't find it again. Can someone help me with this?
I think it was some switch in powercfg? And wake timer?

Wim

  Hurricane report
Posted by: Reddwarf - 2011-12-26, 07:50 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

It is now morning of boxing day, and last night the annual Christmas hurricane hit southern Norway real hard, especially on the west coast. Heavy rain and wind speed of 42 m/s (that's 94.5 miles/hour) have done a lot of damages, and some 30.000 homes are without power. Roofs have been blown off, boats thrown on land or have sunk and sevral railroads are closed due to landslides or trees on the track. So far no lives have been reported lost, but the damages will be worth hundreds of millions. The hurricane is right now passing our neighbour country Sweden.

Intel Core i7 processor HT & Windows 7 - Increase Performance
Posted by: ShiningDragon - 2011-12-26, 03:01 AM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Do you want to raise the power of multithreaded applications on your i7 2600 / i7 870? Without overclocking? Without losing warranty? It's an easy task, at least under windows 7.

The background that seems to be that Windows 7 uses well for general applications only 6 threads (so at least for WinRAR), no matter how many real and logical cores a processor has. No, this isn't a tasksheduler problem. This just seems to be a suboptimal setting (ok, not many people have 4 core cpus with 4 virtual cores).

Q: What's needed to raise the power of my expensive cpu?
A: This is pretty simple. Save the file located in the appendix "corepark.reg" on your PC and then executes it. After doing this, there is a new entry in the Windows 7 power options:

Change the selected entry to the value "100%" to the so-called core parking off. Before this, however, make a note of the current setting for the event that you would like to undo the change.

For more information, I recommend the following sites:

Good luck!

  NPVR and Hauppauge HVR-850
Posted by: TerryOhr - 2011-12-25, 08:09 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

I've searched everywhere for information on configuring the analog side of the HVR-850 for NPVR.

I followed the instructions and set up the SoftPVR directory in NPVR, downloaded the latest WinTV from Hauppauge (2.4d) edited the BAT file for use with version 2.4d and ran the BAT file as Administrator. It said that the files were "registered" correctly but after rebooting the PC and running NPVR, the analog side of the HVR-850 will still not show up.

Please point me in the right direction. Is there a step I still need to do?

Thanks.

ps. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit.

Operation of PLAY on remote control
Posted by: MikeLerwill - 2011-12-25, 07:15 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

If I press PLAY while at the top level menus it appears to start playing random tracks from my music library. While this is reasonable it also seems to do this while watching a video playback or while watching live TV which does not make much sense and I was wondering if this was deliberate and if so what the rationale for this was.

If, as is always possible, I have something mis-configured please let me know.

Thanks in advance for any info.
