  DVD ISO playback with NPVR?
Posted by: drbenjamin - 2011-12-29, 06:51 AM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (18)

Hey all

I've read as many threads as I can find and am a bit unclear as to whether there's a way to play DVD ISO files on the NMT? I have mounted my Video share as part of my npvr.cgi, comfirmed that it is mounted via telnet. When I navigate to a folder with a single ISO inside and press play, I get to the colored PCH screen but then it goes black and back to the NPVR menu. Configuring a SMB Network share to the same folder (using setup on the PCH) I can navigate to the ISO, press play, and after the colored screen I get the DVD menu and all is well. This is a DVD of home movies, no DRM involved. If the folder has a VIDEO_TS folder instead of an ISO, the direct NMT share still works but NPVR never even gets to the colored PCH screen.

attaching the MVP log, the file is called 1990.ISO. Is the "backdoor"method of playing ISO files working in NPVR or was that GB-PVR only?

  Upgrading from GBPVR
Posted by: phil.from.aus - 2011-12-29, 01:01 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

Let me just say thanks to all of the developers and people helping out with NextPVR.
Being a old GB-PVR user from way back its a great bit of kit and it runs superbly compared to GB-PVR.

I have installed and gotten almost everything working, the only thing left behind is all the broadcast details for my recordings in have done in GB-PVR is there a simple way to dump the GB-PVR database to import broadcast details in NextPVR?

The only other thing I noticed is there is no shutdown/restart/hybernate function and no way of seeing how much disk space is left.

Many Thanks for NextPVR!

New to NextPVR, some questions and issues
Posted by: DaveMelnyk - 2011-12-29, 12:32 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

Hi Folks:
I am trying to evaluate NextPVR as a replacement for SageTV and have a few "newbie" questions and issues.

I successfully installed nextPVR and got it to work with my analog TVW650PCIE card after digging through the posts on the forum about the "softPVR" compenents required. (Using windows XP Pro, SP3)

I also managed to work out getting the XMLEPG to work after diggin through the wiki info.

Things seemed to be working fairly well.

Current problems. Was trying to get "bulk update" to work so that I would not have to enter info for every channel. This has not worked, and now even if I enter info for an individual channel it does not "stick" so to speak.

I then tried applying the patch files from the announcement regarding the "final" patch version for patches 1-50a. This has now caused the NPVR recording service to fail to start - even after a reboot of my system. Pretty much dead in the water now. Message is:

"unable to start servive: System.invalioperationException: cannot start service NPVR recording service on computer --> System.componentModel.win32Exception ...... etc.

First question: How can I resolve the above? Do I have to completely unistall and start over? I unzipped the files and copied them over as per instructions with the npvr service stopped.

Other questions: SageTV had I think an OTA EPG for analog for Rogoers cable ... is that possible with NPVR?
Is there some info somewhere on using client extenders - i.e. like SageTV placeshiffter - how do you set up the equivalent item for NPVR?
There was some info on the main NPVR site indicating that it was possible to record 2 shows
simultaneously using only one tuner ... is this correct? and how would that be accomplished?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards and Happy Holidays to all .... Dave Melnyk

Just got an A-100 NMT for christmas and trying set it up. I followed the Dummies Guide, but can't get the npvr to load. Below is the output from the syntax checker. I can browse to the NMT from the server, and the NMT can play videos from the server.

which recording hardware an CI - with CA-Module Crypto CAM CryptoGuard
Posted by: jasjol - 2011-12-28, 12:49 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

I am planning to go to digital DVB-C. I am today using GB-PVR with Hauppauge PVR150 on my analogue CABLE-TV.

CABLE-TV provider uses CA-Module Crypto CAM CryptoGuard and all DVB-C digital is encrypted.

I am new to recording digital so I have some questions:

which recording hardware and CI can I use that would work with CA-Module Crypto CAM CryptoGuard and with DVB-C digital which is encrypted?

Can I still open the recorded files from another computer or do I need some special software for reading the file? (only using mpg today)

is there some similar utility to Xrecord - which allows you to se info about the recording outside NextPVR?

/Janne

Delay between channel change, recording start
Posted by: drbenjamin - 2011-12-27, 10:37 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (9)

One thing that would really help out users of the HD-PVR would be to allow the channel changer to go first and have a configurable delay before recording starts. The HD-PVR doesn't deal well with inputs of varying resolution that occur when the STB was on a SD channel and then switches to an HD one. Comskip also has trouble.

DCR-2650 not showing up in devices
Posted by: ttfitz - 2011-12-27, 07:46 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (7)

Title pretty much sums it up - I have installed a new DCR-2650 on my system, everything is working in WMC, but when I go under Settings, and Devices in NPVR, only my old card shows up there. I have the newest version AND the cumulative patch installed, I tried turning off my firewall, but nothing.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

NPVR Channel Scan from Device Setup not importing results
Posted by: jt25741 - 2011-12-27, 06:18 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

OK folks,

I was having issues with EPG data(which has been working very well over a year), switched to Schedules Direct.. and that proved not to work either. Something clearly got wedged in my setup, not sure what. No EPG data at all. No change in hardware or software.

I did a NPVR uninstall, and reinstalled, applied patches.

Then I went to Device Setup, and Scanned my tuner(HDHR) for QAM channels. The scanner finds ALL the same channels it did before....no issues or differences are apparent here. But here is the major problem. After selecting OK in the Digital Channel Setup window to confirm all the channels that were found (and checked), nothing gets imported into the device channels dialogue. It is completely blank just as before the scan. The net is, none of my channels are known. If I can get the channels to import that were scanned, I suspect the EPG issues will go away too. Again, the Digital Scanner Setup finds all my channels, they are checked....but selecting "OK" on this step does nothing with the channels...they are gone.

Any idea of what could be wrong here? What I can try next?

Thanks so much for your help.

I don't get much exposure to Macs so if this possible could a walkthrough be provided?
