Sorry guys,
I have read hundreds of posts and cannot find the answer to this. It looks like someone else has the same problem I have too. Recordings are working fine, scheduling and guide data from SD is working fine. Blasting using the blastcfg program works fine, but the setting doesn't "stick" when changing it in the settings profile for device setup.
I go into the settings and configure it to use the rca back inputs and the ir blaster instead of the executable. When i leave to save settings, it looks like they are never saved as I come back to the settings and they are back at default. In spite of this, it seems that the recordings work fine, but the tuner doesn't tune correctly. I know the blastcfg has it correct, because the test works fine, but the software command that it defaults to adds extra pauses and such that any number over a single number gets passed up. For example, 735 ends up trying to tune to 735 but it takes so long it ends up tuned to 5.
I looked in several config files to see if i could manually change the settings, but cannot find a place to do that anywhere and the interface obviously is not saving the settings correct.
I love this software and am so excited to get this working and it looks like others have fixed this problem, but i need a bit of help to figure out how. If you need logs or config files let me know, I think I have looked at them all.
Hi.
Since starting with GBPVR for myself and pushing friends in the same direction many years ago, one thing has been certain - my storage needs has been increasing - and so has energy prices. I have been through adding drives upon drives (many drive letters indeed), 6 port local HW RAID-5, unRAID as a file server. Now I want to consolidate my machines and streamline my setup, which will include my nPVR, unRAID, Weather-Display server among others.
Essentially, I am putting together a build with several ESXi 5 VMs on top of a SuperMicro X9SCM-F board, 16GB RAM, SSD for VM storage. The VMs relevant here is an nPVR on W7 32bit and unRAID version 5. My build thread is over at the unRAID forums here.
The unRAID disks will be running off hardware passthru IBM M1015 HBA's reflashed to LSI 9211. I have one card now and one incoming. That is 16 SATA ports that can be populated and with full SATA speed.
Now for the nPVR stuff and a couple of questions.
I haven't been too active in here for a while, as my nPVR, PCH A100 and still one MVP essentially just purrs along (thanks Sub &Martin). So forgive me if I have missed some great and obvious things. I have more or less been in an evolutionary state since 2004/5, so I may have missed the revolutions along the way. It's part of this posts purpose to be enlightened by Y'all :o
Background - bad habits and all...
I have for a very long time been moving files and folders to an identical structure and naming convention as nPVR is using. The ancient VideoArchive plugin helped when accessing files outside the original recording location, but as it died, I was too deep into my approach to be able to change, given GBPVR's and my capabilities. So I still move recording off my recording server to the file server whenever I need space. Then I just play the recordings through nPVR's "Videos" access to my file server on the A100, or directly in VLC.
I tend not to use nPVR interface for general cleanup. I use Explorer (actually Directory Opus, but that's another story) to delete or move recordings in bulk. I do however also delete files I have just watched from within the nPVR interface. As does the family (exclusively like that).
I have for a very long time not trimmed the nPVR database, so it still knows my old recordings - even the ones I have moved to my PVR file share or even deleted directly in the file system. They currently appear as failed recodings, but all metadata is intact. Stuff I hope to reuse (see below).
Recordings are cable .TS streams from Danish cable supplier Yousee.
My intention
Mirgation nPVR
I will copy the folders, database and setup to the VM in the same directories, install the latest nPVR that will then inherit the basic setup. This has been done in a test run relatively successfully.
I did have an issue with the latest download of the drivers for HDHR that I installed not being able to find all channels. But leaving the old devices from the previous machine seems to work for now. It is quite odd though. I'll retest and post specific questions if repeated.
With this in place, I will have the core functionality of nPVR intact, and all links to all previous recordings broken.
Change recording directory to be directly on the unRAID server
As nPVR and unRAID will be sharing the same hardware and have perpetual uptime :p, I will have nPVR record directly to my protected and expandable unRAID array. I think the best way is by addressing it in config like "\\Servername\Sharename" - in my case \\Tower\PVR ?
Questions - your input please
Any comments or input to the above is very welcome.
Beyond that, I have the following specific questions and doubts:
Are there any specific issues related to recording to a SMB-fileserver like unRAID that I need to take into account?
Will it be possible to amend the recordings database to properly refer to the files of the same name and structure as when recorded, but now just residing on the unRAID server. With this I mean, I can go into recordings, I select a recording, and it will display the description of the recording and play it transparently as if it was in its original location. I.e. it was originally recorded to D:, but now resides in identical folder and filename on \\Tower\PVR (or V.
Will I be able to delete recordings on the fileserver through nPVR interface that war just recorded there? If they were placed there outside nPVR? I know that if I access through "Videos" I can't, but maybe if the fileserver ti nPVR looks like the native recording directory?
Can I in any way have something equivalent to user access control on who can delete recordings?
Will it be possible to have nPVR exporting information along with recordings, that makes it feasilble to access them and their metadata (description) through XBMC, Plex or similar frontend?
PS. One sacrifice: The FloppyDTV has to go, as the board has no FireWire port. I will add another HDHR to go to 4 tuners and be independent of hardware now and in the future.
I have been trying for a while now to get NPVR to work with my Hauppauge HVR-1950. I'm using Windows 7 64-bit and the ATSC channels are working perfectly, audio and video. My problem is that audio from my Rogers STB sounds like chipmunks (high pitch with slight distortion). Video using the STB (S-Video) is fine. When using WinTV, everything is fine but I hate the lack of a EPG with WinTV so have to get NPVR to work for me. I have tried a number of codecs and nothing seems to make a difference. I have tried having no codec for MPEG 1 audio but that results in no audio at all. At least I know from that that it is using MPEG 1 for the audio. I am really stuck now so would appreciate any advice.
Currently using IR Server Suite software (IRSS version 1.4.2.3158 from Mediaportal) with the original Microsoft MCE USB IR receiver/blaster to blast a Sky STB (in the UK). This works well.
Building a 2nd setup for somebody and have bought (as the Microsoft kit is no longer available) the Logitech MC remote control kit and also as an alternative the HP MCE receiver kit (off eBay). I expected these to work the same way as the Microsoft one but neither work with IRSS though they are recognised in a similar way as devices in Windows 7 and work fine natively in Windows Media Centre. Spent the evening on Google and cannot find anything to indicate if this newer hardware can be made to work outside of Media Centre or not.
So, does anybody know:
a) If IRSS can work with these later USB receivers/blasters
b) Is there any alternative software to IRSS that can be used in NPVR for blasting (HIP, Eventghost?)
In the UK they donât seem to broadcast any data to help avoid duplicate recordings so many days I end up deleting over half the previous days recordings. For several programmes I have over 30 episodes recorded and over the weekend managed to free up over 70GB of space by manually locating those with the same Sub Title which is a slow process.
Several channels have a format where the same programme is repeated several times, some 2 or 3 times in 24 hours on others up to 5-6 times over a week. Would it be possible to have the option to avoid duplicate recordings if the Sub Title is already in the database?
I have troubles getting my UltraXMLTV enhancement to work from the UpdateEPG.bat file. The program starts and gets stuck requiring it to be killed from Task Manager. Running it from Windows or CMD prompt works just fine.
Logs attached where the stuck process were killed at 2011-11-01 07:41:54.341,
I have the capture card drivers installed, the NPVR software installed, and the patch applied and when I go to record anything from my PVR in LiveTV, it is just a black screen. I have added 1 channel with component as the input source and it still isn't working. Any help?
Installed AMD Catalyst 11.10 today (WHQL Just out overnight) on Vista with SAF6 and HD5760 Graphics Card.
All seemed OK until tried to watch TV and Video - nothing would play.
I've narrowed it down to the EVR Renderer both Standard in NPVR and Custom in MPC-HC. VR9 renderer plays OK.
Went back to 11.9 all is OK - tried a second time still same problem - so I am now back on the 11.9 drivers.
Have AMD done it again - surely the EVR renderer is a pretty basic part of the graphics drivers to mess up??
Or is it just my system.
Oh well lets see if 11.11 work when they come out
Im having an issue with the record season weekly feature. If I try to record a show that has reruns before or after it the record option seems to tack these shows onto the recording. Example:
I wanted to record pawn stars at 10:00-10:30 monday nights. The channel shows past pawn stars at 9:00 and 9:30 and then after the new show at 10, another rerun at 10:30. When I click record for the 10-10-30 slot and select record this season some how it tacks the rest of the pawn stars on... What am i doing wrong? How do I stop this?
