Iâve had the NPVR Recording Service crash a number of times since installing version 2.2.6. It has happened approximately once per week, but not on the same day each time.
The initial sign that something is wrong is that my PC hasnât gone to sleep following late evening recordings. Itâs still awake in the morning and the NPVR tray icon is red which would usually indicate a recording is still in progress. Further investigation shows a number of failed recordings.

I thought last week was just a freak event but this week, the same show kept recording way past the end time. A few others did this last week as well and I was not able to stop them without stopping the service.
I've removed the recurring program and added it manually again but it still went past. In one case, it was almost 30 minutes before I noticed it still recording. I'm thinking that it could possibly continue if not caught until there was no more space but that's just a guess.
Logs are attached.
Is there any designation of a show premier or new episode in the standard built-in schedules direct setup? I use mc2xml for my schedule now and it adds a * to new episodes. However I seem to get a lot of recordings of the same episode, ie; when the show is rerun, npvr will record it again. I read in one post that Schedules direct appends a unique id to each show that helps npvr avoid duplicates. I'm wondering if my mc2xml setup isn't passing this unique ID through and this is causing my reruns being recorded.
Essentially I like my new show or premier identifier, but I would also like to avoid using up a tuner for a show I've already seen and deleted.
I'm running the latest code of NPVR on my PC and my OS is Windows 7. The problem I have is that every 10 minutes or so, my PC wakes up. I check the event log and is says that NPVR was the reason for the wake up. I checked my scheduled recordings and I have nothing in the list. So something is causing the PC to continually turn on. It doesn't matter the day nor hour, it turns on within 10 minutes or so after I turn the PC off. This problem did occur with the previous version which I believe was 2.03
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Been a loooonng time user of GBPVR (still is actually), and I'm trying to see if I'm to switch to NPVR. Installed and and configured it pretty easily, but I got 2 problems with NPVR:
1) When I choose Live TV, there's no sound. By default I prefer having AC3 sound, don't know what I'm supposed to set to make it working.
2) I have the 'Audio Decoder Out' set to 'Audio SPDIFDigital In', but evertime I select Live TV, it switches to 'Audio Line In' and so my AC3 isn't 5.1 anymore, it reverts to 2.0. What's up with that?
My current copy of MC2XML stopped working today so I downloaded a new copy. I noticed that the new copy is now version 1.1
I still get new EPG data in TV Listings, but I no longer get XmltvExtras symbols, categories, etc. Nothing has changed in my setup or location of files, just the new mc2xml.exe file. I use the Microsoft legacy service which comes from Zap2it.
Not sure if this is the right thread but here goes.
Due to hardware problems I've just updated to WIn 7 64 Bit and NPVR.
Everything is working fine except volume. I've installed the volume plugin and mapped the right key sequence to the remote so I can change volume, but it is too sensitive.
Using either the remote or keys it changes by 15-20% for each press.
Is it possible to change the sensitivity?, ideally I'd like it too change 2-3% (then if you want a larger amount you hold the key for longer).
I'm having a problem on a new NPVR setup when the Windows Desktop is set with the screen magnifier set to 150%. Whenever set at this level of magnification (so that icons and text in Windows are more readible on a 1080p TV), the Taskbar always overlays itself on top of NPVR. This problem does not happen with the magnifier set to 100% (default) or 125%.
I am using GMOTE and VPLAYER to Browse and play TV Recordings over wifi on my Android phone. Its a nice simple way to access and play files on my HTPC. However VPLAYER has a bug in it that prevents you from skipping forward or backwards. And I have not been able to find another video player that will play TS files.
I have a fresh Win7 HP which is the media server which I recently installed NPVR (will grab spec lists to look at) however, on the client side which is a Win7 Ultimate I keep getting a "connection failed to communicate live recording" everytime I try to watch something.. I see all the channels that it grabs, it just wont let me watch anything.. Sometimes as well it sits there not responding, than will go to a black screen, than will load to the channel list again.. Just wondering if anyone can help me with this.. I'm wanting a setup where I can go in and watch TV on the Media Server in the lounge room, or in the computer (Client side).
Things i have tried so far is enable recommended port. (there were 2 to put in to firewall) however I have also just turned the firewall off completely. I have installed the patch files as recommended on the download pages as well.
Tonight I will be checking to see if I have the recommended stuff needed. Like dotframework etc, make sure it has all that as well, however I dont know if its going to fix the issue Im going to have as i think it could be something to do with network config..
Just wondering if there is a right up, step by step showing how to set this up, I'm pretty sure that I set it up correctly as per the instructions I have read, however maybe there might be something I have missed.
Any suggestions would be great!! Thanks for any help!!
